New "W" High School

Now the boundary analysis, on the other hand...nah -- that has enough over-focused political interest to burn itself up and get buried. No real solutions for those most in need.

What magnet program?

Woodward is supposed to have a magnet program when it opens. Regional, I think, maybe arts/performing arts? They were going to be building that out while the displaced Northwood population resided there for 2 years after completion of phase 1.

There may be county-wide redistricting, as there will be 3 new high schools opening, Woodward, Crown, and Northwood

Northwood isn't a new school. It's just getting an expansion, and a down-scoped one, at that, though it is mistakenly expected to be able to relieve the brunt of DCC overcrowding, saving the Ws from the redistricting boogeyman. Crown is brand new, and set to save the W's from cascading redistricting from population pressure to the north. Woodward is new, though termed a "reopening" because there used to be a Woodward a long time ago, before that population was subsumed into the nearby/then-newer schools (Ws), and will absorb all the potential overutilization now at those schools. See how everything just works out for some folks?

The opening of Woodward only directly impacts adjacent schools like Einstein, WJ and BCC.

Nothing about a new magnet program has been decided.

Sources tell me this won't happen.

Good. Every available seat in the building is going to be needed for the WJ + DCC kids.

Nah, just the nearby adjacent schools like WJ, Einstein, and BCC. By making room at these schools, they can shift their boundaries to create room at other adjacent DCC schools when needed.

B-CC is not involved, even if you post a billion times on DCUM that is is.

I don’t think this is true.

+1. Not true.

How do you know making Woodward part of the DCC is off the table? Do you have a crystal ball? What makes you think people won't be upset to be moved out of the DCC and only have Woodward as an option moving forward.

Has anyone said anything about making Woodward part of the DCC? I haven't heard anything. So why would you think making Woodward part of the DC is on the table?

There is a "new school" listed as "programmed" in the CIPs for the WJ and BCC clusters called WJ/BCC elementary school presumably to shuffle around some ES school boundaries for those clusters. There is no date listed for it.

BCC was originally part of the DCC but the parents went nuts and forced them to revise this. Ironically, BCC is the most downcounty school near the city.

You said: "They are going to make Woodward part of the DCC." That is not truthful. It may be your guess or prediction or hope or fear, but please don't spread misinformation.

Yes...and? That has nothing to do with Woodward. Look up Woodward in the same CIP and you'll see it is referenced in the WJ and DCC chapters only.

I tend to doubt it but who knows.
