Ignoring their leaving Oakton too large, that is what would come closer to balancing enrollments at Centreville/Chantilly/Westfield.

Not really. Chantilly is moving 333 kids to Skyview and another 309 to Westfield. 639 kids. Time for Centreville to contribute something more than 77 kids, especially since the final scenario has it still at 104% capacity. Then, we can kill two birds with one stone and scale back this massive renovation/misuse of taxpayer dollars there while we are at it.

If you are so concerned about a misuse of taxpayer dollars, kill off Skyview. Otherwise shrinking a school that is already much smaller than its neighbors is about as dumb as it gets.

I think it makes sense for school enrollments to match the building size. Not really a radical idea.

Centreville is below the 105% capacity that FCPS treated as a threshold for possible adjustments in the county-wide review. I say "possible adjustments" because they left at least one high school over 105% untouched.

Also, CVHS's renovation and expansion has been in the CIP for years. They can take another look at the scope, but CVHS deserves to have a building capacity in line with other schools. Not really a radical idea.

A 2000 student building capacity is completely in the normal range for FCPS HS. There is nothing unusual about it whatsoever.

Here's Sully complaining that CVHS has "hundreds" more students than it was built for and that they are many years away from any new building. I guess she would support sending some of those kids over to the empty seats at Westfield.

BS. Centreville currently is at the bottom or near bottom of capacities for FCPS high schools. You're entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts.

“Sully” or whatever her name is now is talking out of both sides of her mouth. That’s the problem with wannabe political Facebook influencers.

On the one hand she backed the residents at Walney wanting to stay at CVHS. On the other hand she’s now posting about Westfield being under capacity and telling people to advocate to the school board to send more kids there out of cvhs.

She’s clueless.

Many FCPS HS have capacity around that size. Its around the same size as Edison, Mclean, Falls Church, Lewis, Annandale, Marshall, etc etc. Completely normal size.

The Walney people want to stay at Chantilly. They aren't Centreville people.

NP-If they are leaving 800 seats open at WF adjacent to Centreville, there is no need for a much larger school in that part of the county. No clue if 2000 is average but there are many schols in FCPS around that size.

HAHA. She probably has heard how angry the Westfield people are with Seema and FCPS and is trying to make a ploy for their vote without actually doing anything.

She posted on Facebook today telling Westfield people to leave comments on the boundary tool. OY VEY.

SHe also said that many Westfield parents have contacted her in the last week. I guess they gave up on hearing back from anyone like Seema or Sandy who is actually a decision maker.

A sensible school system would want detailed projections on how many students their new affordable housing project / redevelopment is going to yield before making a final decision on whether to expand Centreville and if so, by how many seats. Its clear there is absolutely no need for seats today in 2026 given all the extra space in the area.

Yep, when you are contacting the person running for school board, its because the actual school board is completely ignoring you.

I listened to this a few times. She asked people to click on the boundary tool and give feedback.

She didn't technically say leave comments on the boundary tool, but she appeared to be under the impression you could still do so.

If a lot of Westfield families are contacting the lady who just started running for school board two weeks ago, imagine how many have contacted the actual school board members and FCPS!

Their concerns are being completely ignored. We know this because every iteration of the map gets worse and worse for Westfield.
