Revised Scenario 1: Balance Utilization and Minimize Disruption
Emphasizes stable assignments and minimal disruption to existing boundaries while balancing utilization.

Revised Scenario 2: Balance Utilization and Align Feeder Patterns
Takes an approach that prioritizes feeder pattern alignment and current utilization conditions while remaining responsive to community feedback.

In both scenarios, McNair, Floris, Oak Hill and Coates ES's are going to Skyview. Small portions in Brookfield, Cub Run and Bull Run ES's are changed to Bull Run.

In scenario 1: half of franklin farm (Crossfield) is going to Skyview, in scenario 2, Crossfield stays at Oakton in full.

Missed: in both scenarios, fox mill is going to skyview.

There's a whole thread already talking about this, Jan.

Draft boundaries kept changing, it's time to start a new thread. There were scenario A/B/C/D, then scenario 1/2/3, now revised scenario 1/2.

This looks like progress. At least some things are firmed up and narrowed down, which should make the rest of the process easier.

Agree, they seem to slowly be getting to something workable. There are still issues, but nothing as bad as the previously scenarios.

I’m happy with both scenarios!

I suspect that they end up using Scenario 2 because splitting Crossfield makes no sense.

Westfield is getting screwed. Will be down 700 students and getting more low income students than before. Criminal treatment from FCPS.

I don't think they will be having more low income than before. Maybe, in percentage.
Anonymous
It will be a higher percentage but fewer actual people due to going from 2750 to 2000.

Is this official?
The parts that are moving to Skyview have significant FARMS.
Anonymous
No, because FCPS refuses to share those figures. You have to be familiar with the neighborhoods being moved in and out.

It’s easy to blame Reid/FCPS for high FARMS schools but also consider, they are not responsible for the economy or the overall increase of families experiencing financial difficulties (thanks Trump), the level of immigration from poor countries (thanks Biden), or the lack of affordable housing in close-in areas, forcing lower income families to concentrate in further-out areas. There is only so much that can be done by FCPS.

They could mix it up more. If they were moving the apartments from Bull Run along with others from Bull Run, that would be fine. But, to pick out the lowest income areas to move is quite troubling.
Same with the choices from Chantilly. If they keep Walney Oaks at Chantilly, they certainly should keep Chantilly Mews and the other low rent housing in that area.

This is egregious.

I do think Westfield will be fine. But, just leave it alone rather than send more high FARMS. It would be better to stay under 2000 than to fill it that way.
