Centreville is not that overcrowded now (under 105%) and emptying it out would reduce the pressure to do what FCPS should have done already, which is reach an agreement with the Park Authority to renew the lease that allows for the current/planned student populations.

So you don't think anyone should be moved out of Centreville?

I would not move more than 75-100 kids out of Centreville without offsetting it with kids moved to Centreville from Chantilly.

1. Theres no need to move kids into Centreville. It's already over capacity.

2. The southernmost part of Chantilly boundary is still closer to Chantilly than Centreville in both time and distance.

3. We are not adding more split feeders.

Moving kids from Chantilly to Centreville is so illogical, that I think pp mistyped and meant, there needs to be more kids moved from Chantilly to Westfield. Which makes sense.

They could move more kids from
Chantilly to Westfield but the prior suggestion was to move substantially more kids to Westfield from Centreville, which shouldn’t happen unless Centreville is also picking up kids from another school.

Oh that makes no sense. Centreville is overcrowded and needs fewer students to be at the correct building capacity.

Every neighborhood off Walney Road, and in the Walney area, should go to Westfield, not Chantilly. It is illogical not to send those kids to Westfield.

What are they doing?

I’m not on the PTA board but many of us are attempting to speak with elected officials and getting nowhere.

I am disappointed the Region 5 higher ups aren’t all over this. We need their support and aren’t getting it.

They don't care about individuals and that's why I asked about PTSA.

You need some kind of organization to speak for you. Otherwise they won't listen.

(Leaving CVHS with around 1850-1900 students would put it exactly in FCPS's right size guidelines for building capacity BTW).

It has Westfield with 2083 students at 74% capacity in a building that holds 2800+ students. (And this includes the Brookfield walkers who everyone agrees should be moved back to Chantilly)

It has Chantilly with 2642 students at 99% capacity in a building that holds 2649 students.

These numbers are ridiculous. They need to pull more kids out of Chantilly and Centreville.

Once more for those of you in the back, students are not fungible.

Sure they are. Same school system.

I’m assuming you put your money where your mouth is and have sacrificed your kids for the greater collective.

Didn’t think so. Hypocrisy at its finest.

The correct building capacity should be calculated based on a decent-sized facility, which Centreville currently lacks compared to other high schools in the county.

You can keep trying to look to Centreville to bulk up Westfield, but I don't think you're going to get much further than the current proposal, which only moves 77 kids out.

Ignoring their leaving Oakton too large, that is what would come closer to balancing enrollments at Centreville/Chantilly/Westfield.

Not really. Chantilly is moving 333 kids to Skyview and another 309 to Westfield. 639 kids. Time for Centreville to contribute something more than 77 kids, especially since the final scenario has it still at 104% capacity. Then, we can kill two birds with one stone and scale back this massive renovation/misuse of taxpayer dollars there while we are at it.

If you are so concerned about a misuse of taxpayer dollars, kill off Skyview. Otherwise shrinking a school that is already much smaller than its neighbors is about as dumb as it gets.

I forgot to mention also, if they did send a significant number of Centreville to Westfield, by that I mean several hundred, then they could move that neighborhood right next to the school to actually attend the school rather than driving all the way to Fairfax. This is all very easy to map out when politics aren't involved.

Some portion of those 333 kids from Chantilly-maybe a third or more--are from Chantilly Mews and should be sent back to CHS.

I think it makes sense for school enrollments to match the building size. Not really a radical idea.

No, dear, we don't calculate current building capacities based on imaginary buildings. Are you high?

The apartment kids should be moved back to CVHS as they are much closer to CVHS.

The neighborhoods north of 66 (the two SPAs identified previously, including Seema's), adjacent to Westfield areas should be moved to Stone/Westfield.

Centreville holds 2000 students. That's a pretty average sized capacity for FCPS.

You're entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts. You have your facts wrong.
