What good that money could have done to fight the fires, help the unemployed, homeless, survivors of Covid, flood victims, the elderly living in bad conditions. Now it lines the pockets of already affluent political operatives, media companies, lobbyists.

You seriously don’t get it.

I won't deny that ACB is brilliant though.

Filling this seat is worth more than the 2020 election. The GOP can lock up SCOTUS for a generation if we play our cards right.

I am afraid this will convince conservative people who don’t like trump to vote for him and R senators.

Again, OR it might convince Democrats, never Trumpers and similar folk to GOTV. That ActBlue thing was no joke. Americans don’t like the GOP.

And Americans don't like the Democratic Party, either.

Regardless of who wins in November, I think both parties are destined to splinter before the end of the decade.

Link?

Because polling suggests otherwise.

PP is delusional. The GOP has tied their longest streak of losing the popular vote since at least 1900 — 16 years. Before 2004 was another 16 years. They’re almost certain to lose it again this year, so that’ll make it officially a record.

Many people are voting for Biden not because he's a Democrat, but because he's not Trump. Support for Biden doesn't automatically equate with support for the Democratic Party.

You wait. Biden will win, and it's possible that both the Senate and House will go blue next year. Then, the real battle for the future of the Democratic Party begins: socialists/progressives vs. moderates. The socialists and progressives will likely yank the party further left, which will cause moderates to leave in droves -- following in the footsteps of blue-collar folks who felt the party abandoned them back in 2016. The "splinter" statement above makes some sense.

Yeah but that’s not because “Americans don’t like the Democrats.” It’s because the Democrats are internally split.

Internally split is another way of saying big tent - we have coalitions. That's how it works in a two party system. I see the advantages of becoming a Parliamentary system, but we're not there. So this is what we've got. One party that worships a secret being named Q who is whispering to them that there are tunnels all over the country through trafficked white children are being sold by Wayfair and only Donald Trump can stop it (even though he hasn't). And another that represents a lot of different perspectives but broadly wants to ensure everyone has enough to eat, the ability to be safe in their homes and the community, the chance to go to the doctor, and the right to vote = with wide variance. about how that should be achieved.

Maybe both parties will fracture, or maybe we'll keep on with this messy weird system.

Why would it? Who exactly is on the fence?

This. No one new is going to vote for a Trump who hasn’t already decided to do so.

Here is WaPos front page the day after the death of these two colleagues and friends who shared the love of opera.

Yup. Kavanaugh turned me from a never Trumper Republican to a Democrat. The whole thing was horrifying as a rape survivor. Both what politicians said/did and what conservative acquaintances said about it.

There's bias everywhere. Including in all of us. Who cares.

Are you doing something to help all those people?

We donated $60 and we also regularly help out local food pantries and charitable organizations.

A 6-3 Conservative Court (with a swinging Roberts) is going to be pretty tough for Liberals to swallow. But alas, that’s where we now are.

I'm of the camp who believe she should have retired during the Obama administration. I do not intend to demean her historical contributions to the court, including those during the Obama administration that would not have occurred if she had retired, but she had five cancer diagnoses and said she was going to work until age 90. Last year she responded to critics calling for her retirement essentially saying that Obama could not have gotten as good of a justice confirmed:

It's hard to say if it was commitment to the cause, denial about her health problems and longevity, or selfishness. Either way now her entire legacy and all she fought for is it stake.

With that money, if the democrats are elected, there will be proper maintenance of national forest lands, a UBI, a plan to deal woth COVID, restored funding for social security meaning the FEMA funds would be restored.

I’m really sorry. I know that was really hard for my mother, too.

Understand, any GOP senator who supports moving forward on this is voting to kill the ACA in the middle of a pandemic.
