Musk trying to access to US Treasury

I don't doubt we will come across many more $50M for condoms for Gaza type stories.

That’s not a story. That’s a fairy tale.

That program was in Mozambique.

And one of the major problems (in the eyes of MAGA/DOGE) is that the bureaucracy is so vast that there is little accountability and oversight of unelected bureaucrats, who did manage to have powers to make decisions and approve funding for this and that that wasn't directly related to specific Congressional edicts. Remember Chevron? It allowed unelected bureaucrats to come up with regulations on its own. And now Chevron has been struck down. Even with COVID, who authorized US grants to WIV in the first place and why? Where's the accountability there? Congress doesn't know where all the money is being spent, the White House doesn't know where all the money is being spent.

With a 36 trillion deficit and massive deficit spending, things can't go on the way they have. I don't doubt we will come across many more $50M for condoms for Gaza type stories. And unfortunately there will be "aid" that effectively ended up in the pockets of local tyrants and terrorist groups.

And I don't doubt that a major reason behind Musk's interest in all the Federal IT systems it related to figuring out where every penny is going and the records kept across separate systems that makes it difficult to audit thoroughly. Hasn't the Pentagon failed audits for so many years?

Yes, I agree it seems like a sledgehammer is being taken to the federal bureaucracy and I am sympathetic for people for whom this must seem like an entire world and way of life is falling apart overnight. But I do understand why this is happening.

But they don’t. You have no clue how government operates if you say this. Additionally, your understanding of Chevron is wrong.

Your post isn't saying anything beyond "THIS IS WRONG" without explaining why. And yes, Chevron gave unelected bureaucrats the power to create regulations.

You're truly lost in the MAGA sauce. The condom story is a lie. Musk isn't acting as a benevolent auditor. You're defending absolutely insanity.

SCOTUS has overturned chevron. Now the executive no longer has the power to interpret Congress’ laws.

Trump is part of the executive.

Disagree. Musk is spinning a narrative to try and give MAGAs validation, yes. But is it a legitimate and fact-based narrative? Not yet, and not even remotely. For now he is just throwing numbers around, some of which make no sense - for example his other "DOGE DEI Contracts" tweet which had numbers that made no sense at all, for example supposedly OPM spending more in DEI contracts than they have in their entire budget. We are NOT seeing any specific details or context to know what exactly is being referenced, how Musk is weirdly interpreting things, and so on.

Basically he is just spamming us with random points trying to peddle a narrative, which we don't even remotely know is true. And anyone out there saying "AHA! I KNEW IT ALL ALONG" needs to slow their roll, do a lot more research, ask a lot more questions, and do a lot more critical thinking. I suspect a lot of Musk's findings will fall apart in the weeks to come.

+1 he is just throwing meaningless nuggets to the MAGA base but we know the tin foil hat folks will find fake gold in every nugget.

Elon can literally transfer the whole treasure to his offshore accounts. Right now. Put that in your pipe, MAGA.

The market is going to completely implode once it's widely known that he has control over the payments system and starts actively wielding it. It will cause a massive crisis in confidence.

Gee I remember Republicans being all in favor of "faith based" initiatives, now they hate them, it's all evil woke liberal crap?

President George W. Bush established the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives in 2001. This office aimed to ensure that faith-based organizations could compete for federal funding on an equal footing with secular organizations. The initiative was part of Bush's broader effort to involve religious groups in providing social services, and that is the program that the Lutherans have been working with all these years. And here's generally where things stand on that - https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/2008/08/21/publicationpage-aspxid1103

And they are still promoting those things at the state level as well, for example Florida House of Representatives working to establish similar initiatives in DeSantis's office. https://thecapitolist.com/house-republican-files-legislation-to-establish-office-of-faith-and-community-within-eog

It's amazing how much the MAGA movement has sharply skewed to the right from where it was under Bush.

You missed the part of project 2025 where the GOP and Trump don't intend the follow the law. Who gives a crap about SCOTUS. They are just mouths in weird little cloaks. How exactly do the SC judges intend to enforce their decisions?

Do people not understand what Trump is doing and what their plans are? SC is meaningless now. There is no one to enforce whatever they say. Trump is steamrolling them.
