WTH?

He got rid of 18F, the entity that built the direct file software. He hasn’t gotten rid of the software itself.

How "efficient". Does that mean that Direct File will not exist next year, as no one will be around to update it with any and all tax changes then?

I have no idea. I’m not defending him, either, to be clear.

No, I didn't mean you were, and I appreciate your clarification. Musk is supposed to be a software guy - he fired a lot of the programmers at Twitter and now it doesn't work very well anymore. Now he's dong that to the USG? That's bad. It's not efficient or a good idea.

I predict this will end up costing us $$$$$ in the end because of lawsuits, technology, hiring, infrastructure, etc.

Way to go jack@sses!

I want a new ss number if we survive this

It's called State Capture.

Trump has outright said he is using Orban as a model.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10034251/

"State capture is a type of systematic corruption whereby narrow interest groups take control of the institutions and processes through which public policy is made, directing public policy away from the public interest and instead shaping it to serve their own interests... The captors of the state were businesspeople, soon to be known as ‘oligarchs’, who purchased influence over policy formation through direct kickbacks or promises of favours, using personal connections to the individuals and parties holding political power. This framing of business as the captors of politics probably always overstated the separation between the two spheres, when in many transition states, the distinction between the public and private sector was in fact blurred—sometimes intentionally. In the early years of post-Soviet transition in Russia, Wedel described the phenomenon of “institutional nomads” (Wedel 2003), i.e., individuals who strategically moved between public-sector and private-sector roles, depending on where they could best access advantages or avoid regulation. By shifting their shape and surfing on the rules that applied to different sectors, they were able to either influence the rules or evade them, effectively operating outside legal frameworks."

Good op ed on this topic.
Title:
Elon Musk has your Social Security number. It’s as scary as it sounds.

My favorite quote:
"Being able to tell a fraudulent payment from a valid one requires information about the programs and the households and businesses getting the funds, and all of that information sits in the agencies, not in the payments system.

"That’s part of why I am disheartened to see the Trump administration and Musk push to “delete” the IRS or dismantle the Education Department. These changes will lead to more government fraud, not less."

More government fraud is their purpose. Trump always advertises what he will do by accusing others of doing it. Same old same old and MAGA are too stupid to figure it out or think they'll benefit. Lawless, awful traitors.

Luke Russert:

What once seemed like a fringe theory is now being carried out by the corporate powers that have wholly captured our government.
1. Install a CEO Dictator
2. Purge the Bureaucracy
3. Build a Loyalist Army
4. Dismantle Democratic Institutions
5. Seize Media and Information Control to Maintain Power

How may think Musk and his group of traitors have been hacked by the Chinese and Russians?

Judge Kollar-Kotelly seems prepared to block Musk's two DOGE allies detailed to Treasury from sharing any Treasury records with Musk or others outside the department.

She wants a filing from DOJ by tonight to see if the government will agree to that plan.

It's a start. DOGE needs a muzzle.

Luke is not his father, not in any way, shape or form. Little Luke needs to go back to his journey in the woods to discover his inner self. How embarrassing.

Do the plaintiffs know about this? That Elez allegedly has admin privileges and has been making changes to Treasury code?

Maybe that's not within the scope of the Privacy Act - but maybe it is. Who knows what he is doing there?

Actually, agencies are very careful to never share PII with anyone. But Musk doesn't care about the Privacy Act or any of that nonsense, everything belongs to him, he owns everything.

How many times do people have to say it's not about the money.

The oligarchs want to take over the government. Elon does not care about our the money we taxpayers pay...he only cares about himself.
