MCPS delayed Thursday?

Does Friend 1 live closer to a major road?

Cars were skidding and tires were turning in the air on my road.
I think buses will not be on time tomorrow morning and arrive quite late bringing kids back from school.

Will they make the call delay/cancel/open tonight or tomorrow?

I’m sure if you all just post and ask the melted snow not to become ice, it will happen. The entitlement on this forum is ridiculous

Or an emergency route? Did PP completely miss the clear messages from the county and city of Rockville that they do prioritize certain streets over others? How does PP expect the plow to get from one side street to another if not on a street?

Yes, she does. Not on a major road, but two blocks off. ,Abe the plows use her road to turn around? I don’t know. The other two are on dead end streets. So location may be a factor, but I still don’t understand how all roads weren’t plowed within two days.

Drove by our ES at 12:45 today and was shocked to see no crews working on the parking lot. It was clear the big parking lot had been plowed at one point because every parking spot was half filled with snow piles. So I don’t know how anyone will be able to park there tomorrow. Then, on the road of the car drop off loop (which goes around said large parking lot) was one large sheet of thin, white snow/ice. No salt and nobody shoveling to make sure it’s drivable and walkable tomorrow.

I don’t see how secondary students can safely walk 2 miles in this mess or how elem students can walk 1 mile let alone how there are safe spaces for bus riders.

The county did a poor job communicating their parking requirements during a snow emergency so all of the parked cars on streets have made big snow piles that are completely in the way and not melting anytime soon. In addition, there is still a ton of sidewalks that are not passable by adults, let alone kids.

Huh?????? They triage the snow clearing. Evacuation routes are cleared *and maintained* first. They don't just start driving around clearing roads from left to right.

Of course. But at some point they need to clear all of the streets. Not five days later.

That was many hours ago. The county and school crews probably have cleared more since then.

Personally I think it’s because it’s a difficult call.

I agree that it is a difficult call and they are still debating.

I don’t think it will be much better 2 hours later than regular time tomorrow. Therefore, it’s a tough call at this point.
