Disagree. Just look at the test score ranges on the most recent CDS's from both schools. The 25th percentile at Richmond is higher than the 75th percentile at Elon. You're right that kids from both schools (and from schools like Roanoke and Lynchburg, for that matter) can end up in decent jobs and decent grad schools. But it's also a fact that Richmond is a much better school and brings in a much more accomplished student body. Two things can be true at once.

Higher stat kids doesn’t make Richmond a “much better school”

DP but I think it does... not to mention their massive endowment. Richmond is a pretty great school.

Elon is a great school as well. People don’t need to put down school A in order to bolster / boost school B.

Great school? I don't know any "great" schools that accept the majority of applicants. What's the point of going to a school whose student body is a close reflection of the general public?

Not every kid is going to an Ivy and that’s totally fine. Why is that so offensive to you?

And the bolded comment is bizarre.

Did I say "Ivy"? No, I didn't. In point of fact, I made no mention of specific schools and only referenced schools which accept the majority of those who apply. Schools which do not accept the majority of applicants are plentiful and (as I hope you know) comprise not only those schools which are members of the Ivy League (athletic conference).

Why is the bolded comment bizarre? Perhaps you should reflect on why the best and the brightest flock to those institutions whose student bodies are least representative of the general public and why you are unable to understand that logic.

Your comments read derogatorily towards a student body that is reflective of the general population. Why is that? Do we all not live in the same society and interact with each other? I would gladly hire someone who can interact in the real world and work with people of different backgrounds and strengths.

I’m not sure why the Richmond poster or posters thinks that slightly higher stats and the admissions acceptance rate matters when we are talking jobs in the real world and graduate school. No one cares. I’ve seen Richmond on resumes that have crossed my desk. I’m never impressed.

Below the top n schools, you're not going to get a wow factor for random resume submissions, that's true. By that metric, UR might not have an advantage over Elon. But school caliber matters for OCR. As I wrote above, UR does a little worse than UVA when it comes to prestigious firms recruiting in campus, but only a little worse. It seems to do better than W&M. OCR matters for your first job, which matters for your second job, and so on. How does Elon do? What prestigious firms recruit there? I doubt too many.

“Prestigious firms” aren’t the goal for everyone. What a dim view of education.

What are some other goals of education on which Elon ranks better than UR?

DD is a junior at UR. She has a job lined up post graduation and has had an excellent experience in the business school. Your pissing match with UR vs. Elon is ridiculous. Who really cares which school is better????!!!!

DP.

Maybe they're jealous of the wealth and intelligence of the Richmond kids? Jealous that the Richmond kids were selected by a committee out of a large pool of applicants to be a part of an exclusive community while they're stuck at a place with a 90% acceptance rate and a median SAT in the 1100s?

I’d hire the VCU kid. At least they don’t rely on wealth to get in college and then pretend they’re more intelligent. Be honest, UR accepts wealthy kids that can afford to play the selective admission game.

The Richmond kids are undoubtedly more intelligent. Are you stupid? Did you go to VCU? Sounds like it!

Only an imbecile would think ranking metrics are significant.
