Does anyone really think she has any malice or disrespect towards towards disabled people? Acceptable usage of what were once common words change over time. So she didn’t completely expunge all remnants of the word from her vocabulary and one slipped through the cracks. She made a mistake and apologized. Move on people! All you’re doing is driving moderates towards the anti democracy R’s!

No, not one time. 3 times according to her colleagues

KKG is untouchable. Plenty of people will defend her.

I think most of the “defenders” on here are actually saying they are fed up for cancelling people for saying something wrong even if they apologize. Does not matter who it is.

But you know that isn’t true. They’d want her cancelled if she used a slur against other groups. It’s just they don’t consider disabled children to be sufficiently worthy victims.

+100
They would also want her cancelled if she was white. Or a Republican. Selective cancelling is on brand for the left.

Sure, sure. The failure with your argument is that if *anyone else* had used a slur, KKG herself would be loudly denouncing them and calling for them to resign. If we all want to end this culture of victimhood and wokeness, then everyone is going to have to agree to stop cancelling people for minor infractions. But we're all quite aware that Democrats will never stop cancelling people. So here we are. What's good for the goose, and all that...

No the “woke mob” is defending her because of the color of the skin.

People who are concerned about someone in education using slurs that affect kids are speaking up. And Republicans who couldn’t care less about the kids but are happy to attack a democrat.

Totally agree with you, except for your idiotic last sentence. Republicans do indeed care about the kids - much more so than many of you Democrats seem to, what with your insistence on exposing them to inappropriate sexual material and castigating/punishing them if they forget to call someone by the "correct" pronoun.

I feel the same way about every one of these board members. They have obsessively focused on social issues to the exclusion of academics and basic common sense. It's really a shame their election is a year away.

It is a golden opportunity for the Fairfax GOP, given how members like Keys Gamarra, Omeish, Tholen, and Frisch have tarnished the Democratic brand locally, but I fear the Fairfax GOP will find a way to squander it completely. I see as many GOP posts focusing on "school choice" and de-funding public education as I do about refocusing on "academics and basic common sense."

Where are the candidates who recognize that most parents are still heavily invested in public education, but just want it to be academically focused rather than non-stop political posturing (while is all the current SB members bring to the table)?

Do we know the percentage of households in Fairfax that have kids in the schools? Those are the people most likely bro pay attention to the school board and what is going on in the schools. Many of those people don't follow closely.

Then you have all the people who don't have kids in the schools. They pay even less attention.

So what happens is people grab that sample ballot in a county that votes 65-35 democrat and vote along those lines. It will be real hard to overcome that. Perhaps one district seat and one at-large. So at least there might be a dissenting opinion voiced occasionally.

The other hope is that the democrats nominate some more moderate candidates.

See the Fairfax NAACP is doing its thing tonight to make sure the in-fighting among the School Board members, especially between Keys Gamarra and Sizemore Heizer, doesn’t stop any time soon. Those folks make Asra Nomani look like Miss Congeniality.

None of this, of course, helps kids or schools one bit. What a disaster this board has been.

The Fairfax NAACP is awful. No substance, just jargon and posturing.

I didn’t see what harm they’re trying to cause tonight - the assessment is based on every other word and action of Sumatra Hampton.

The NAACP has their knives out for Rachna and Elaine. Kudos to Rachna and Dlaine for standing up to bullies.

Check out their tweet. They are out for a Rachna’s blood.

How dare she call out KKG who has spent a lifetime in service of the underprivileged.

Bullies and Hypocrites.

Okay, just saw it. What an irresponsible statement and attack on heizer to deflect from the despicable act of one of their favorites. They seem to have made up facts and just published them to retaliate against someone who voted against that ridiculous resolution. They also caused problems around the selection of the superintendent. They seem as eager to destroy FCPS as Youngkin is.

And they ignored the fact that KG used the slur three times that the Board is aware of. Magically, because of the color of her skin, they accept her apology.
