KKG is untouchable. Plenty of people will defend her.

I think most of the “defenders” on here are actually saying they are fed up for cancelling people for saying something wrong even if they apologize. Does not matter who it is.

If anyone thinks “cancel culture” is not a major problem, consider the horror implied by this study:

Violence is never the answer.

This discussion is ad much about cancel culture as it is about climate change.

This is not a situation where a celebrity mouths off on some politically inconvenient matter inviting the wrath of cancel nazis.

This is about an elected school board member who is forever lecturing the world on inclusivity being a repeat offender in using slurs that have no place in modern society.

But you know that isn’t true. They’d want her cancelled if she used a slur against other groups. It’s just they don’t consider disabled children to be sufficiently worthy victims.

With the exception of the N word (and not the version of it kids use that ends in “a”) that is uniquely loaded in a way that all other slurs are not, I disagree. Me at least I am sick of this jump of crucify folks even if they apologize

She repeatedly and casually calls things “r-word” but wanted to put a permanent disciplinary record on your 8 year old for using the “wrong pronouns” for someone. Let that sink in!

If they start removing Board members for their hypocrisy they might not have a quorum left.

That's why all this talk about cancel culture, whether it's a "Tier 1 Slur", etc. is just noise. She's a 100% hypocrite who wouldn't hesitate to jump on somebody else's mistake to further her own agenda.

I think Ds are too quick to "cancel", but I do think it's warranted in certain circumstances, such as:

racist comments (LA council person)
r word
n word
assault (beyond what Franken did)
corruption
illegal behavior

Exactly. She is not going to resign or issue another apology. She is not going to change. Just accept it as what is the new normal in FCPS.

Move on, everyone. Nothing to see here.

It’s not at all surprising that this woke mob is devouring their own here in Fairfax county. It’s painful to watch Democrats turn everyone into fragile snowflakes always looking to be offended and patting themselves on the back for their wokeness. Does anyone really think she has any malice or disrespect towards towards disabled people? Acceptable usage of what were once common words change over time. So she didn’t completely expunge all remnants of the word from her vocabulary and one slipped through the cracks. She made a mistake and apologized. Move on people! All you’re doing is driving moderates towards the anti democracy R’s!

Somehow the defense that KKG is a dinosaur, not a hypocrite, doesn't bode well.

There are plenty of people who think of themselves as Democrats or primarily vote Democratic who are nevertheless disappointed to the point of being disgusted with the current School Board; the double-standards of the Board when it comes to acceptable language are just one more reason to replace them next year.
Anonymous
The School Board members think their hearts are pure and that they only have the best intentions. In their world it's just parents and students who are scum and whose activities need to be monitored (in the case of parents) and whose "inappropriate" speech needs to be subject to disciplinary action (in the case of students).

A Kanye West supporter is in the house. Same logic to defend his anti-semitic statements. Everyone offended is a snowflake. So what if Maga-Man wanted to grab women by their $$, it was just locker-room talk! Wake up Rip Van Winkle - the Mad Men era is long gone

No the “woke mob” is defending her because of the color of the skin.

People who are concerned about someone in education using slurs that affect kids are speaking up. And Republicans who couldn’t care less about the kids but are happy to attack a democrat.

I just don’t like her and don’t think she has made education better.
