slur during last nights FCPS Board mtg

Anonymous
I didn't attend/didn't watch last night's FCPS School Board meeting. However, I heard that during the discussion about the controversial resolution a member of the School Board made a comment along the lines of "we can't be this (r word) about this". Is this true? Was this really caught on a "hot mike"? Which SB member was it?

The r-word is absolutely a slur and it was allegedly used by Keys Gamarra last night when she didn’t get her way.

She needs to resign. She’s been ineffective for five years; she regularly shows up unprepared; and she can’t handle people with different opinions.

I have been a KKG supporter for years. However if this is true, I will actively campaign against her.

What! Really?

Is the recording from last night’s meeting online yet?

She was in a huff because one of the “anti-racist” initiatives got voted down for a change.

Apparently Anderson’s attempts to promote Ibram X. Kendi’s pedagogy in FCPS were a step too far for even this School Board.

I don’t know her, but it sounds like she is tunnel visioned to only advocate for her special interest minority group, and not all minority groups. I think she should be let go if she is not capable of advocating for ALL minority groups.

That’s pretty much it. Her main focus is getting an expensive new Academy program installed at Lewis HS. Why? Because Lewis is now named after John R. Lewis. Other schools not similarly renamed get little or no attention from her.

For an at-large member such a myopic focus should be totally unacceptable.

In addition to what she said on the hot mic, she showed yesterday how extremist and racist she is, along with Ricardy and Melanie. They took the language from the extreme "Free and Anti-racist minds" and wanted to make it into a resolution. Fortunately some more moderate school board members resisted.

The live stream video is still online (until they take it down)
Here is the link with the exact timestamp of the KKG's slur

The hypocrisy of these people knows no bounds. Talk about canceling yourself, if it was in fact Keys Gamarra. If they are so fond of debating resolutions, there should be a resolution to censure her at the next Board meeting.

I don't like KKG because her planning for the Lewis Academy has been atrocious. However, I'm almost cetain she meant "retarded" in the real definition of the word, meaning delayed. Like fire retardant. Due to taking so much time for a trivial matter.

The only people who use that term in a derogatory sense are people like me who grew up in the 80s and 90s where that was a common insult in middle and high school. She's way too old to have picked up on that lingo.

I was born in 1970 and recall the term being used quite often. It wasnt “new slang”.

She graduated college in 1982. Not 1882. Im fairly certain she knows the “lingo”.
