You are an idiot. They were in lockdown with an armed shooter. They should have been actively filing students and staff out, classroom by classroom, and searching for the gun and the shooter. |
Fair point. |
|
There's a HUGE difference between "the coast is clear" and "we are working to evaluate the situation. "
Lying to thousands of students, staff and parents is a disaster! |
MD is hardly a state where it's easy to get a gun, at least compared to neighboring states like WV, PA, and VA. I will definitley be voting against every incumbent BOE member, but I usually do that. Same with County Council who pushed hard to get rid of SROs. The only sane one on the Council is Friedson. |
|
| And the kids sitting next to the shooter while getting texts saying "Alls clear, kids" must feel really great about your Stockholm syndrome ass kissing of this inept clown show. |
PP again. Why a disaster? Everyone remained safe and calm. The outcome might have been different if details were released. Parents would’ve raced to the school, the kids would be in a panic, the suspect would’ve been tipped off snd perhaps his arrest would’ve been very difficult with more people injured. |
|
Omg. I’d like to see any of you try to find a shooter in a school, communicate with parents, feed everyone and let them use bathrooms and find ways home for everyone.
I think you all forgot that educators should NOT have to deal with guns in the first place! The fact everyone thinks THAT is normal is mega effed up. Celebrities have to travel with wound dressing kits in case they are shot. This is not normal. Guns usage like ours in the US is not normal. |
The police knew immediately that the student had been shot. He told the nurse when she arrived in the restroom. It was no secret what happened. He told the emergency department staff he had been shot by another student. Traffic was not backed up. The road was closed and by around 4:00 forty buses were lined up outside. But students weren't allowed to leave for over two hours. Buses where there. You were inside the building. You weren't listening to the police scanner or watching the video from the helicopter overhead. The public knew and saw what you did not. |
The police initially said the shooter had left the building on foot. That's what they saw on a camera. They didn't know the actual shooter was still in the building. |
| That's why they should have been clearing those classrooms like we have all seen too many times with students being led out of the building to safety. |
|
Imagine a second accomplice sitting in a locked classroom for hours with no food, water or bathroom getting stressed and antsy for hours.
What they think they know and what they actually know are 2 different things. Protocol should dictate removing the students and staff as quickly as possible. |
|
I predict this mess is going to lead to a re-evaluation of the active shooter plans on the part of law enforcement and school admin response. |
So you think the current plan doesn't call for getting potential victims to safety asap? |
I hope that reevaluation includes reinstatement of SROs. |
