All the astroturfers claim to be registered democrats. They think it makes them relatable. |
After reading this forum for the past month, I'm also down with the Apple ballot. |
Reading all these angry posts you'd think these BOE members would be run out of town but they'll win by landslides which just goes to show how out of touch these posters are with the mainstream. |
You realize a big reason why Apple ballot candidates do well is because MCEA is one of the biggest (probably the biggest) political action groups in the county, with advertising and ground-game activities that can't be matched by anyone else. And good on them, I guess, but how have parents been suckered into perceiving this as a benevolent organization rather than a workers union acting in their own self-interest? I think after the school reopening fight you'll see less people blindly accept Apple ballot candidates, but I think a lot of people never put things together that Apple Ballot means specifically union-endorsed. |
+1 Amen to this |
Me: I was busing my plate the other day at the coffee shop when I ran into my neighbor. You: DID SOMEBODY SAY BUSING? YOU KNOW WHO'S AGAINST BUSING? 90% OF THE COUNTY! |
Or because people support their agenda, unlike the fringe nutjobs who post their conspiracy theories here. |
Maybe someday they'll eliminate boundaries like Wootton's where most of the families live closer to another high school and you don't hear the Kensington families who live across the street from Einstein complaining about their kids being bussed across county to WJ. Seems like some families love busing. |
MCEA does push compensation increases for teachers above all else, that's not a conspiracy theory. |
| And when there was a legit non Apple Ballot non crazy RWNJ voters chose her over the Apple Ballot candidate. |
Not that covid had anything to do with it.
B- on the DCUM Troll Scale! |
That could be because families who live across the street from Einstein are walkers to Einstein. |
There are many families within walking distance of Einstein that are bussed across the county to WJ. |
|
The following four things are not the same:
1. Current boundaries 2. School boundaries that allow every student to go to the school closest to them (not possible without a ton of money) 3. School boundaries that make demographics exactly the same at every school (not gonna happen) 4. School boundaries that do not bus kids across the county but also limit the extent to which low income kids are segregated from everyone else and maximize the use of existing school facilities |
Nobody in walking distance of Einstein is bused "across the county" to Walter Johnson. Look at a map. Some people apparently regard Rock Creek as a barrier similar to the Himalayas. |
