Sweden herd immunity is working |
Link? I’ve heard it both ways. |
Thanks so much guys, these nuggets of good/positive news are really uplifting |
More pls! Need good news heading into fall! |
https://www.barrons.com/articles/sweden-has-developed-herd-immunity-after-refusing-to-lock-down-experts-claim-51598291136?mod=hp_INTERESTS_coronavirus&refsec=hp_INTERESTS_coronavirus Some claim it was successful, but came with a fairly high cost. Again, until we get some "final" numbers from competing solutions, we won't really have a good idea if it was a "success." The hardest part of any definition would be the value assigned to human life. Please don't bother to argue that it's infinite. |
Yes the Sweden outcome is still developing, but one thing is very nice to know:
It seems in urban US cities many people were asymptomatically infected which means we MAY be closer to herd immunity than previously thought. Time will tell, but I'm hopeful! |
Yesssss!! |
Which cities besides NYC? Curious bc in DC our rates never seemed to really increase |
Well, it would be the first affected cities. How is Seattle doing? |
Try this. https://covid19-projections.com/#view-projections |
I hope this is ok to add here:
https://www.ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/news/2020/08/30/new-york-reports-a-record-high-in-coronavirus-tests-taken "Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that 100,022 coronavirus test results were reported in New York yesterday, a record-high for the state. According to the governor, 0.69 percent of those tests were positive for COVID-19, making it 23 straight days with New York producing infection rates below one percent." Record number of tests taken and infection rate under 1%!!! Also, if anyone else has any positive updates I'd love to hear! |
WOW. .69% is amazing. Why are they testing 100k people a day though? |
So they can get low rates. |
|
OH I see. That is interesting. So all that being said, do you think the rates are "artificially low" since they are just doing so many tests? Just curious, though i am still hopeful that this is positive news. Mods please delete if this question doesn't belong here |
