According to their website:

How many signatures are needed for each of the above SB members?
1.Cohen, Springfield District: 4,000
2.Tholen, Dranesville District: 3,600
3.Omeish, At-Large Member: 27,000

(That’s how many total, not how many are left!)

I have heard that Omeish is almost half way there. And that is with signing events only in 2 districts.

Once they expand into collecting signatures from other areas besides Cohen and Tholen's districts, Omeish will easily exceed the minimum needed.

What did Cohen do to deserve recall?

How is this even a question? She has been working against families since day one.

Just read the thread, I’m sure it was discussed.

She didn’t do exactly what OpenFcps wanted when they wanted. Just like all the other targeted members.

Cohen was completely deferential to the teachers’ unions. No independent oversight whatsoever.

Where it will be summarily shut down by the judge. Yawn.

DP. Once again, that’s really not the point. Yawn, indeed.

Yes, it is the point. All the idiots wasting their time on this think they're punishing the SB members and are that makes themselves oh so powerful. It's laughable and pathetic. Get all your cutesy little signatures, then sit back and watch as nothing happens. Buffoons.

Uh oh, someone’s triggered! Having a petition against you, signed by thousands of your constituents, is indeed punishment. And it will certainly prevent them from ever winning another SB election, should they be foolish enough to run again. It is “laughable and pathetic” that you seem unable to grasp this.

That's actually assuming that anyone beyond DCUM and OpenFCPS knows that there's a recall petition.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock in Fairfax County - the public is well aware of the recall efforts.

I live in Tholen’s district and I only know of the efforts b/c of DCUM.

I also live in the Dranesville district and have seen petition signings while out and about, and neighbors are all talking about it.

So why is it taking so long then?

I think as a PP mentioned, it got off to kind of a slow/disorganized start, with people mostly focusing on their own friends/family/neighbors for the petitions. I’ve only seen them out in public fairly recently, within the last few months. Really since the weather started getting nicer in the spring. And I also think now the general public is starting to see how the SB gives so much time and effort to TJ admissions and trans student issues as issues 1 and 2, which affect, like, the 500 students accepted to TJ and the handful of trans students, and leave the other 99.5% of FCPS students in the dark. So there’s some growing frustration which wasn’t there this past fall/winter.

LOL. First you suggest they’d never get enough signatures and now you ask why it didn’t happen sooner?

Nice try to move the goal posts.

It's irrelevant, but isn't she a whiny WASP from the South with a Jewish husband? Either way she is definitely whiny. And ineffective. And not committed to serving students.

I have no idea of her ethnic background, but she is indeed quite whiny.

Tholen is dishonest, which is even worse than being whiny. @ 150 signatures left out of the 3000 needed. She can't be unseated soon enough.
