I mean...if he’s looking to enter white-man-dominated corporate America, sure maybe. But there are plenty of opportunities out there for what many will call “bleeding heart liberal” jobs. If this kid is smart, he’ll find his people and fit right in. He certainly knows how to strategize and play the long-game. He’ll be fine.

Says who?

Black people can say it
White people cant
Because white people use it as a tool of dehumanization and there’s no other way white people can use it

That’s not complicated

What are the rules for biracial kids?

Yeah, because Vanguard University consistently attracts the best and the brightest, right? You can tell from his You Tube channel that he's a vapid kid looking to become a "social influencer." Best case scenario is he gets a job at a California theme park.

Not saying the kids are blameless but that no one is talking about how LCPS ignored the issue for so long.

He is being used as well. The fact that this kind of immaturity is given attention and a stage does not help him. It’s very saddening. I’m have no idea what the answer is either than to try to teach kids to avoid all forms of social media like the plague.

LCPS has done a lot tbh. People here complain about it alllll the time in fact. What are they supposed to do about kids who post racist slurs in their own social media at their parents house or in their parents property (a car)? At what point does their influence and control end and the PARENTS’ begin? ALL of this took place via social. Not at school. And if kids are at school being racist guess who is still most responsible? Their families who raised them that way.

Spot on. So much work remains wrt combatting racism and privilege.

Might want to first start working on not calling people racist because they believe that punishment should be proportional to the crime. I feel sorry for all of the sick and hateful people who want this girl destroyed.

Check out this You Tube video where he first tells a white girl (not the one in the NYT story) that he doesn't like her, while recording on his phone, and then says "don't make me expose you to the entire community" to her when she calls him "dumb" a few minutes later (0:52). He sure doesn't seem to treat girls with much respect.

The life of the white girl in the NYT article is going to turn out better than his, and it won't be because of white privilege. She will have learned a lesson and he'll always be a spoiled attention-seeker.

As pp stated above, don't engage aggrieved POC especially when they are recording.

It's kind of chilling to see him practicing with other white kids when exactly he'd pull the trigger and play a race card like that.

Wouldn’t it be ironic if he in turn gets shamed for treating girls like crap?

However their lives turn out, we already know the white girl has more character than this calculating, narcissistic POS. He obviously hasn’t learned anything or he wouldn’t have willingly played the victim all over again for a Times reporter.

I think she got what she deserved. Actions have consequences. I'll save my tears for kids in cages, abused girls and women of all races, unarmed POC killed by police. Not this little -ish!

It was clear from her posts about George Floyd that she in fact was nit racist.

She made a poor decision -- at a very young age. Boy was a jerk to do what he did. He has a target on himself now.

Agree. I find rap vile, but what kids *aren’t* rapping along with Kendrick Lamar these days? Maybe those up in arms about it should be targeting rappers?
