What actions do you advocate that will address these tragedies? If it's not outright confiscation, you're wasting your time.

And good look with gun confiscation.

1. Gun locks

2. Mandatory gun safety training

3. Mandatory minimum sentences and fines for those found to have negligently contributed to the death of a minor resulting from the use of a gun

4. Lifetime ban of gun ownership gor #3

5. Require gun owner liability insurance

6. Mandatory 1 year in jail, and $5,000 fine, for anyone found not in compliance with the gun lock requirement. Mandatory $5,000 fine for anyone not in compliance with liability insurance requirement.

1. Gun safes should satisfy gun locks requirement. A gun safe is much quicker to open in a hurry than a gun lock.
2. Sure, absolutely, I concur.
3. Sure, sounds good to me.
4. Sure.
5. Uh, you do know that home owner insurance already covers that don't you? Insurance companies don't typically bother asking if a home owner is a gun owner because the occurrence of accidental discharge is so rare, to the point that it is negligible for insurance purposes.

And which one of these will you say a criminal, with an illegally obtained weapon, will adhere to?

Which of the children that OP posted about was killed by a criminal? None. All of them had found a gun belonging to a relative or a friend's relative.

Proper gun storage would reduce these unnecessary deaths and possibly gun suicides, as well. Why are you babbling on about criminals and guns? It is completely irrelevant with regards to the topic at hand.

August 25, 2016 -- BEAUMONT — 4-year-old recovering from gunshot wound after accidentally shooting himself. A hospital where police say the 4-year-old boy was treated for accidentally shooting himself in the arm with a handgun. The boy was at a neighbor’s house playing. "A man had took his gun out of his pocket and the put it on the couch and the boy had went to it and shot himself in the arm," said the neighbor.

The neighbor says it's a scary situation, knowing it could easily happen to his three young nephews. "If they wanted to go over there and play with the other kid over there and they had saw the gun, they would have thought it was a bb gun or a toy, and they would have picked it up and started shooting at people," said the neighbor. Officer Walter has a warning for parents. "If you do have weapons in your home, keep them away where children can't get to them,” said Walters. “Children are quick and quiet and they can get into those tiny spaces that you wouldn't think they can get into."

August 18, 2016 - 10-year-old boy from Iowa dies after accidental shooting. Garner City Administrator Randy Lansing said Wednesday that the boy and his younger brother went to the range with their grandfather, Tom Hartwig Sr., who also lives in Garner. Lansing said exactly what occurred at the range Sunday remains unclear, but no charges are expected to be filed. Lansing said the outdoor shooting range is owned by the city and is meant to be used only by their police department, Hancock County Sheriff officers and area Department of Natural Resources officials to train and get qualified for their required shooting permits. It is not meant for civilian use. Lansing said he does not believe that Hartwig Sr. has any connection to any of these law enforcement agencies. It is unclear why they were on the property.

September 1, 2016 -- ABINGTON — Grief counselors have been made available to students at Abington schools Thursday after an 11-year-old boy was shot in the face while inside a Linwood Street home on Wednesday afternoon. At 3:21 p.m., two boys inside 159 Linwood St. were involved in a shooting with a handgun, Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz said during a press conference held two hours after the shooting.

Soon after Jackie Jernegan dropped her grandson off at a party Wednesday night, the boy called her in a panic. His 11-year-old friend never arrived: The boy had been shot in the face at an 11-year-old friend’s home while the children played with a handgun. “It’s just a really tragic situation,” Jernegan said Thursday as she sat in her car outside the Woodsdale School, where her grandsons and both boys who were playing with the gun are all classmates. The shooting shocked and saddened residents of the small town, who questioned how the children got the gun but expressed support for both families. The shooting appears to have been accidental. The gun was registered, but whether it was properly secured in the home is under investigation, and officials have not said whether anyone will be charged.
