Why do Rs hate the LGBTQ community?

Leading up to Obergefell, we were assured that people who held to the historic and natural understanding of family would be left alone. How can redefining marriage possibly hurt you? Turns out, “live and let live” was a lie, and we said so at the time.

In the blink of an eye, the LGB movement grew to encompass half the alphabet and we got drag queen story hour, Christian bakers and florists being sued out of business, teachers transing children behind parents’ backs, and moms and dads losing custody of their kids for refusing to sterilize them.

Ten years later, the Skrmetti decision pushed back hard on the idea that sex is an irrelevant socially constructed concept and support for SSM has dropped notably including well below a majority for Republicans. Quite the anniversary.

Ridiculous! FFS nobody is transing your kid wtf that means.

Vary your news sources - the cases have been out there. There have been multiple lawsuits against schools, here’s just one example.

Don't muddy the waters with facts, logic and reason.
Or how about don’t change the subject. Just go ahead and admit you are a culture warrior.

How is it changing the subject to acknowledge that as schools keep trying to teach about gender and sexuality issues, our international test scores in math and reading and science have fallen plummeted? There are only so many hours in the school day for instruction.

OP here - agree. I don’t care if a word problem says Dan and Matt have $50 to spend on gas to get them to Philly for their nephews bar mitzvah. It costs $6 a gallon. How much will it cost to get there?

That doesn’t require a sexuality discussion. It’s just what you might see in society. It’s a fact.

But that wasn’t what was happening in the case decided today. Maryland teachers were specifically told to disagree with a child who said marriage is between a man and a woman, and to respond to a cult who says “a boy can’t become a girl” that the comment is “hurtful.” They are told to say that when a baby is born, “people make a guess about our gender.” Those are specific unscientific, moral claims at odds with parental beliefs and no different constitutionally than a teacher saying a child should accept Jesus.

No, what you are hearing is that teachers were not reinforcing Stone Age fairy tale nonsense. In America, marriage is NOT exclusively between man and a woman. In America, we recognize that trans people exist, because God made them. We recognize that gender is a made up concept that varies over place and time.

Your “facts” are actually opinions, and you’re not entitled to have them validated at every step of your life journey in America. Pray on it.

You lost me at this statement -- this gender ideology is not a made-up concept. And I don't know when this started to be a thing but that is where I draw the line.

It started with anthropologists. People who study humans and cultures. They happened to observe all sorts of inbetweens in different cultures. Sorry that doesn’t jibe with your worldview, but the problem is you.

It's not just me...it's many people...and not just Rs...Dems and Independents too. It's not just Americans it's people all over the world.

The belief that gender identity matches biological sex is tied to religious and cultural beliefs and values. Fact.

Gender has lost its meaning anyway. One’s gender is no longer a polite way of denoting male or female and has evolved into something completely amorphous.

Let’s still keep biological sexes, needed for medical purposes, do away with gendered pronouns, so that no one gets offended by being misgendered but also no one gets offended by being identified as their sex in appropriate circumstances. Intersex people can be just that or whatever is medically appropriate for that unique individual.

No compromise.

Keep this stuff out of the schools and respect parental rights.
Keep biological males out of women’s sports, locker rooms, bathrooms, jails and shelters.

Just stop.

Math teacher here. I posted on the page before this. I don’t care about that either and am fine with your example. Where I have an issue is when people come into my room with pressure to hang up posters for pride month (when it’s not even June because we don’t have school in June) and to support other causes and then insinuate I’m MAGA or R because I don’t allow any hanging up of anything other than my own posters in my room. Like my content posters. This is what is happening in schools today.

Agree.

All those flags and decorations passed around are uncomfortable for everyone- most teachers, parents and students. No need for that at school.

In Wash DC the large international population really finds this all stupid and unnecessary. And the math expectations too low. So two way swing in the misguided USA schools.
Those are to two comments we always hear at IMF, world bank, IfC, the neighborhood and soccer games.

The rest of the civilized world isn’t as religious as we are. In America, we’re not too far off from the time where we burned uppity women and picnicked at the feet of black men lynched by preachers wearing sheets.

Europeans absolutely think America’s race-focus and manufactured gender issues in schools are misguided and ridiculous. Sub Saharan Africans think that too. So does any Black person in London where I’m originally from. They would never move here for this very issue.

So people who never lived in America have opinions about the experiences of people who lived in America. I mean, maybe ask your black South African friends if they think Americans have overreacted.

DP. I have a Black friend originally from Africa living in the US and she told me that a lot of people would approach her and/or try to befriend her, assuming because she is Black, she would automatically be interested in DEI related events and causes. She always politely declined saying she was too busy or whatever excuse. In truth, the cause didn't speak to her lived experiences. She said then she was basically shunned by those groups.

African immigrant here. This has been my exact experience as well. I am constantly approached by very strange and disturbed people, who have a range of far leftist beliefs. These are mostly white people but also African Americans whose blackness is entirely academic. They're always strangely excited by me and assume that I share their beliefs and priorities. Unfortunately for them, I believe in society and its traditions and do not seek to deconstruct or "queer" anything. I immigrated for economic reasons, not to have my time monopolized by unwell people who see an actual, authentic African woman with an accent as the ultimate find to add to their collection of human misfit dolls.

The "social justice" movement in this country is overrun by grasping types who crave power, but can't attain it in polite society. They're too mentally ill, sexually depraved, socially obtuse, aggressive etc. So, they reinvent themselves as "champions" of the "marginalized" and build their self-esteems around the assumption people like me need their protection and guidance. We don't.

Fixed it for you.
So we agree. You are born biological male or biological female (or in rare cases intersex) and a parent's belief that the gender identity match that of their child's biological sex should be respected.

Should we also compromise with pedophiles, serial killers, and other members of dangerous subsets that no decent society should accept?

The answer is no. No compromise. No letting malicious, covetous men and their handmaids continue to endanger women and groom children. No pretending we don't know exactly what gender you are under that ugly wig and hooker wear. Just no. After a 15-year descent into madness, society is done accommodating people who should've been locked up in asylums long ago.

This. The simple answer to OP's "why?" Is "because we said so." We don't want it, we don't like it, and we aren't going to go along with it. Not with the idea that doctors randomly assign gender, or that gender is fluid, or that your soul can be mistakenly deposited into a body of the wrong gender, or that it makes any sense to have drag queens read books to children. We just don't like it. End of. Go back to 2008 era gay activitism talking points if you want people to nod along.

Gender has not lost its meaning. There are many Republicans AND Democrats AND Independents (OP is 100% wrong!) who believe what "gender" means.
I do however, agree on keeping biological sex -- so here's a compromise.....

Do away with "gender" and keep biological sex for everything -- male, female or intersex (M/F/I) should be the only biological sexes. You are either M, F, or I. No more of the silly "X" thing.

I’ll accept your proposal when you accept mine: eliminate the baggage that goes along with sex and criminalize sex based discrimination, both overt and implicit, everywhere it appears.

Medicine. Rights. Schools. Workplace. And most importantly, churches. No more indoctrinating little girls to submit and devote their lives to breeding. No more teaching boys that they are inherently superior. If you want to pull that crap, you lose your tax status. No more subsidizing regressive behavior that limits both boys and girls.

If it’s separate, it had better be equal and based on a sound determination of necessity that would pass the strict scrutiny test.

Everyone signs up for the selective service. Medical exemptions only. Modern combat looks a lot different than it did 200 years ago.

Men and women get child leave and are expected to take it. Companies that have executive ranks that don’t generally track the sex composition of their workforce will pay a tax off their net with a % that reflects the difference. Same with salary differentials. If the company is “unprofitable”, the Board, shareholders, or executives are liable.

Anything merit based is done blinded. Candidates and applicants get assigned numbers.

Sex crimes are investigated promptly and punished harshly. This includes hate crimes against LGBQT individuals. The gay/trans panic defense is officially banned and treated as an admission of guilt.

Stalking, harassment, domestic violence? Automatic 5 years.

And police will be regularly audited and subject to customer surveys to ensure they are not ignoring cases or letting backlogs grow, and their pay adjusted accordingly. Poor performers are promptly terminated.

That sound good to you? Or were you hoping to keep a sex based system where you’d be sure you’d always come out on top regardless of your merit?
