So you think this is some ploy to cheat people out of the admin leave pay? Like Congress is going to vote to fund the govt minus the ones on fork admin leave? The only people that would try that would be the Democrats to make s point and make trump look bad but good thing they are not the majority and it would basically destroy them for the next 100 years |
This is good: "How Elon Musk forked up his mass resignation plan: Incompetence and desperation are a bad combination."

This outlines this cluster-Fork perfectly. |
It's a good theory from this anti musk lefty it even says it on her about page. We'll see if she's wrong. It's odd so many people want to not allow 8 months of paid admin leave to be taken voluntary by federal workers. If Biden proposed it they would all be shouting from the roof tops how amazing it is. It goes to show that in the Washington bubble they think they are in the right and have all the support however looking from outside the beltway the American people are souring on the greed and wasteful spending by the left and obstructing federal employees. |
If Biden proposed it, MAGA would be screaming that it's terrible. |
I mean it sounds unlikely but the overall point is that it’s incredibly stupid to take an “offer” of dubious legality on many fronts. It’s just not worth it at all unless you are basically certain you are getting fired for cause or on probation. For the rest of us, staying put and waiting for a RIF if it comes to that makes FAR more sense, and look for a new job while still employed (you know, like you always did before). For me the big uncertainty is whether I could even look for a new job on admin leave. I’m pretty sure I would not be able to look for anything in my field due to ethics rules. |
Never would have happened, because Biden wouldn't have a proposed an illegal scheme. Just see what the judge rules on Monday. |
STFU, fascist. You are not American. |
what? No. That’s absurd. If Biden wanted to randomly gut the civil service everyone would be equally mad. And of course because Democrats actually respect the law and are generally smarter and more educated, any Biden plan to reduce the workforce would have actually made some sense and have been legal and rolled out in a normal way. In fact my agency offer actual buyouts this fall in the normal way. If Trump and minions were not so stupid and impulsive they could have designed a buyout program that coupled with normal attrition would have been much more successful. of course Trump’s other stated purpose is to “torture” civil servants so he’s very successful on that front. |
Someone posted this Ezra Klein video on another thread. It's about the Trump/Musk overhelm tactcis, and how we shoudl react. Recommend watching if you haven't already: https://youtu.be/K8QLgLfqh6s |
Go away, fascist. We are dealing with real problems. Not imaginary things Biden didn’t do. |
+1 And also dems would not have made such an offer without congressional appropriations. Trump has no power to bind the government to an agreement that conflicts with federal laws (re: buy out caps, funding, admin leave etc.). Any reasonably intelligent first year law student can see how dumb this whole thing is. The only people cheering this on are those in on the scam and the MAGA fans who have zero clue how the government works. Perhaps we need to re-broadcast school house rocks. |
I feel like an AP Government student could have done a better job than these goons. |
Trump should have used his leverage to pass a 50/10 Vera through congress and that plus probationaries would have gotten 30% easy. I think it’s a terrible idea because it will hurt essential services but if that’s your goal that’s how you do it. Elon seems to be in a manic state and this trying to hack into all government computers to find some big conspiracy money is not a good sign. I’m honestly worried for his mental health. Really taking out Catholic charities and Lutheran refugee services is your big brag? He’s lost the plot. |
And then ironically they go and create the “White House Faith Office” to combat discrimination against Christians. How much is *this* going to cost? |
