So what?

Colombia exports about 27% of its goods to the US. The US exports about 1% of its goods to Colombia.

Tariff away.

You really aren’t afraid of isolationism? PP is right that China is going to pick up the rope.

People go on to Amazon and go to Safeway and have NO IDEA how international trade, diplomacy, and economics work. They think America can just exist as an island unto itself and the rest of the world is beholden to us just because. It's mind boggling.

Actually, with respect to the US relative to almost all other countries, trade is a tiny part of the economy. We are very insulated from trade disruptions in the US, despite being one of the original pushers of the current globalized system.

Yeah? We just manufacture most things in the US yes? Grow everything too?

I mean, it is established fact that we have a widely diversified economy and don’t rely on trade nearly as much as most countries. Trade disruptions are far more consequential in countries with high trade to gdp ratios.

You may want to pay for this, but not everyone does.

How DARE anyone disrespect the U.S.?! It’s okay for Trump to diss other countries, but how dare other leaders do the same to us!

Colombia will send its presidential plane to Honduras to pick up Colombians after the country refused to accept migrant deportation flights from the United States, causing President Trump to enact tariffs and other retaliatory measures on Sunday.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro has arranged for the presidential plane to facilitate the “dignified return of Colombian nationals who were to arrive in the country today in the morning hours, coming in from deportation flights,” read a statement released on Sunday.

“This measure is in response to the government’s commitment to guarantee dignified conditions. In no way have Colombians, as patriots and subjects of rights, been or will be banished from Colombian territory,” the statement continued.

Earlier Sunday, President Trump slapped Colombia with 25 percent tariffs on all goods coming into the U.S., and he issued a travel ban and immediate visa revocations on “Government Officials, and all Allies and Supporters,” among other measures, after the South American country rejected two planes carrying migrants.

Petro previously said he will deny entry to the United States’s deportation flights as Trump’s immigration plan begins.

Maybe not percentage wise, but we’re the largest exporter and importer globally.

Returning violent, criminal illegal aliens to their home country is “dissing” their home country?

Democrats should know they are going to lose in perpetuity with that ridiculous attitude.

Nearly all coffee consumed in the United States is imported, and the largest source of that coffee is Colombia. Trump is putting a 25% tax on our top source of coffee, and that tax will be passed on to American consumers

This is beautiful!

International relations and the global value-chain are not UFC bouts. Learning this lesson is going to be very painful for all involved.

We have laws and an orderly way that this is done. This isn't the first time people have been deported. What's different is that he isn't following our laws and apparently is violating human rights with his performative BS, putting our pilots at risk of international legal action.

We do have laws, which they broke. Now they’re worried about someone following them? Lol

Yes, these people literally broke our laws. And they aren’t American citizens. We don’t owe them anything. At any point they could have left our country willingly or paid for their own flights. Or their country could have. But they didn’t want to. So too bad.

Sickening. Are you a Christian? We don’t owe them basic humanity?

No and no.

You realize we can just choose a different coffee right? That’s the point, people won’t pay it, and they will suffer.

I was not aware coffee was a necessity.

Yeah but I’m sure all of the coffee shops and cafes that sell it won’t appreciate it.
