Woke up to the most pleasant surprise this morning: my brother sent me a screenshot of a rant our Maga uncle posted on Facebook. That's not unusual because he does that daily. However, this one was unique in that he was criticizing Trump.

My uncle is retired Army, specifically he was with the 82nd Airborne. He's not pleased that "the elite 82nd has been activated to the Southern border" by Trump. He's also not pleased that the military aircraft is being used for the deportation flights instead of ICE Air. His rant goes into the, surprisingly well cited, cost difference between using the two aircraft. And the rant ends with "Everyone in ____ (town) knows DW. They know that he was denied a new prosthesis by the VA. DW gave his limb to this country and this country can't afford a new prosthesis for him but we got almost a million dollars per flight to fly these GD illegals home? We been go funding for DW for 6 weeks now just think of how many arms and legs each flight could buy our solders who gave so much." (All spelling & grammar errors are my uncle's - I copied that word for word from the screenshot of his FB post).

I never thought I'd see the day when he criticized Trump. And to come less than a week after taking office? Holy balls.

Presumably what was gained by Trump is the ability to send a larger number of migrants using military aircraft with either greater overall capacity or greater ability to move certain types of detainees. I guess we'll learn more with time.

You are misinformed. They were transported humanely in the previous Administration, not on the two planes that Colombia rejected. Colombia said you have to treat them humanely. I suspect it's laying the groundwork for using military troops inside the country to help round up and guard deportees. He's got to put those 20,000 Army troops he's bringing back from Europe somewhere.
