This is an interesting development. Colombia said they wouldn’t take back their own citizens so Trump is enacting tariffs and other measures. Personally, I think this is a great move. It is the responsibility of the host nation to repatriate their citizens. I do not understand why Colombia won’t welcome their own people back. |
They were thrilled to get rid of them in the first place, so they could be someone else’s problem.
You’re surprised they don’t want them back? |
They don’t have any issues taking their migrants back. They are demanding they are returned on civilian flights like humans. To me, that’s a fair ask. |
Will their govt pay for it? |
Why don't they (Colombia) pay for these flights then? THAT would be fair |
Gas and coffee about to cost more because Trump has to posture and do the unprecedented--send u.s. military aircraft into other countries.
|
Military aircraft don't transport human beings normally? Of course they do. What a stupid assertion to suggest otherwise. |
Yes, Colombia can accept US flights, or pay for the civilian flights, or they will be held in detention. |
Too bad so sad. Should have thought of that before you snuck in illegally. |
You all are cute. I suspect it's a lot more expensive to fly military plains than civilian flights. Who is paying for that? You are. Enjoy your coffee while you can afford it.
|
Are we sure these are all Colombian citizens? If not, I can see why they don’t want them back |
Shocking, another Trump tantrum in response to something that he didn’t think through.
Wow, whatever will Colombia do? https://thediplomat.com/2024/08/evaluating-colombias-strategic-partnership-with-china/ |
Colombia is now offering its own presidential plane for the flights. |
