People go on to Amazon and go to Safeway and have NO IDEA how international trade, diplomacy, and economics work. They think America can just exist as an island unto itself and the rest of the world is beholden to us just because. It's mind boggling.
Actually, with respect to the US relative to almost all other countries, trade is a tiny part of the economy. We are very insulated from trade disruptions in the US, despite being one of the original pushers of the current globalized system.
