Taylor Swift is awful (and her music isn't even very good)

I’ve seen them both live and Taylor’s production is much more elaborate but Barnett is the superior musician and performer and her songs are really original with amazing lyrics. Taylor’s music is very repetitive and really basic— without the musical hooks (which I don’t think she writes) I do t think she’d be very successful. She’s like a Barbie at her live shows— it’s all about her outfits and the persona she’s putting on. The music is okay.

One way to address "Taylor has written a lot of songs" is to say "yes but they are not very good quality, here is an example of someone who also writes her own music but her songs are good." It is not derailing the conversation to point out that Taylor's music is inferior to other female singer-songwriters. It's part of the conversation.

I will grant you that Taylor has written a lot of music. I just don't like the vast majority of it.

NP this is where you have it totally wrong. The majority of peoole who dont like her music or the persona she's created are , in fact, whites. DP. Yes…but in those cases it’s more of a cherry on top. Johnny Greenwood is probably one of the top five guitarists of the last 50 years. Good production is useful but because of that alone Radiohead would be making quality music anyway. Taylor is a meh guitarist with a very meh voice.

Butch Vig did a lot more than provide a cherry on top.
