2021 DMV Boys Outlook

He’s not nearly that old. This is a stupid post. All the holdback whining is just blame shifting. Your kid didn’t miss the recruiting circuit because of holdbacks. Your kid’s team didn’t lose because of holdbacks. Your kid and his team weren’t good enough. Whine away if it makes you feel better. But every school and every club team has holdbacks. It is the lay of the land in MD lacrosse. It’s not good, it’s not bad, it just is. FWIW- My kid didn’t do it, but he sure asked about it because it is so prevalent.

Don’t believe you. It’s cheating in club lacrosse. So be it in high school

Look at some of the universities the 2nd team all-state kids are going? Honorable mention? Let alone the 1st team. My goodness. The depth in the state is crazy.

Pretty sad he is that old if that is the case

Prep's #8 is older than every '22 mid on SJC except #1. Of Course, SJC's goalie is just a few months younger than that GP holdback and the the ridiculous SJC '24 turns 16 this Summer. Either way, the SJC '24 is best offensive player by far regardless of class. Same with the SJC goalie.

One Prep middle turned 19 in Dec. There are kids held back all over the place. It is rampant. Learn to teach your kids to overcome it. It balances out over time. The benefits of age/maturity decrease over time.

fully agree with that the benefits of age /maturity decrease over time in HS athletics.

I would imagine the DC Dawgs and the 18 year old sophomores won't standout as much next spring as others start to catch up physically.

Hawks took the squad down today. Probably should play the best players and stop playing daddy ball. Reclass players reclass for a reason.

Daddy ball was bad on dawgs today. A lot of other really good didn’t get as much playing time because of daddy ball. Karma!

Dawgs physical advantage will start to diminish this fall.

Come October / November recruiting circuit, they won’t be nearly as dominant as they once were.

Most of the players on that team will be committed so it won’t matter much. The physical advantage died a year ago, now they simply have more talent and depth then other teams. I also heard they were missing a couple of kids today due to injury. The lefty attack EHS was out, who could’ve really helped them. Still shouldn’t have lost.

I’ll clear the air here. He was born summer of 2003.

For reference;
If born in early-mid 2003, you would have just graduated.
If born in mid-late 2003, you would be a rising senior.

So in other words, he is around 1.5 years older than your average rising junior.

Let’s not just pick on the dogs for their holdbacks:

Crabs and Hawks do the same. Express is similar. At least it’s not like the other MadLax teams who would pull kids to play in the grade below they are in -when they aren’t held back.

Thank you

1.5 years older than most other rising junior would make a huge difference as a freshman and sophomore.

It will start to diminish by next spring

DCE laid a egg again in finals against the hawks.
