What privates were at Fall Brawl?

PVI was masquerading as Churchill.

Among the NOVA publics, the conference formerly known as the Concorde has fallen on hard times. Chantilly, Madison and Oakton have significant holes.

All of NOVA have significant holes, it will be the same cast of schools, Robinson, Oakton, Madison, everyone else.

Langley could put up a good squad if the IAC starts kicking kids out of school, Woodson boys will be too stoned, Westfield, Chantilly, Centerville, LB will have a few kids who weren't good enough to get to PVI.

By June the WaPo All Met will look the same, if lucky, a few token FCPS kids.

Out west, the Riverside boys look legit.

Robison has always been a solid program. They are one of the few NOVA publics who will challenge themselves and schedule a game a vs a top private.

I know the Rams have played Landon numerous times in the past 20 years as has WT Woodson. Robison has also played Georgetown Prep over the years as well. Chantilly High School when Bob Waters was on the staff, played St. Albans for a number of years if I recall correctly.

With the NOVA lacrosse landscape gradually shifting more West, it would be nice to see a Riverside vs PVI or a Briar Woods vs PVI match up.

Riverside is by far the top public school program. They lost both games this fall in the VEL league.Briar Woods would not compete with PVI. A lot of Loudoun talent moved to PVI

I don’t think the problem is Riverside wanting to play the privates. I think it’s more of the privates not being able to fit them in. Only so many games in a schedule. But if they do end up having a spring. The RS and PVI coaches need to figure out a way to make it happen.

The private schools have plenty of room on their schedules to fit in Riverside or any other public. Of course with Covid all schedules will be restricted in 2021.

Why is it "of course with Covid..."? Vaccines will be widely distributed by the end of February. Schools need to start acting and planning like they will be back on campus.

And why is it up to the privates to fit Riverside or any public into their schedule? How about Riverside reach out or is it really because this has been played out over the years. Churchill made the state final 3x in a row and got beat like a drum by Landon every year. It's a glorified scrimmage for the privates.

By conference and/or County, what are the best units? I will chime in on IAC:
Attack: Landon
Middies: Prep
D: Bullis
Goalie: Bullis
Fogo: Prep

Speaking for the IAC as well... the list above looks very accurate to me. I would maybe add the following

Attack: Landon
Middies: Prep or Bullis (Bullis is loaded in the midfield as well)
D: Bullis (No question here)
Goalie: Bullis or Landon
Fogo: Prep (GP's fogo reminds me of Landons Shockey from a few yeas ago - he can dominate games)

I don't know much about what St Stephens returns... does anyone ?

St. Stephen's will have a strong starting unit, but the team is not very deep and will have to avoid injuries. Face offs are a question mark at this point. The team should be able to play with just about anyone, but everything will have to go right to beat the strongest teams.

I hope they all get to play.

Why be such a little fear monger. Of course they will get to play unless you choose to hold them out. Vaccines will be widely distributed by then and according to CDC data reporting trends the spread of cv plus immunization will be around 70% of the population. And even if this area is so profoundly sheepish, which it is, the clubs will be practicing and playing in every region around the country except for the DMV.

Landon has the big lefty, or are the other 2 and where are they committed? Prep has 2 D1 attack commits so they will be strong too.

Landon Attack - Michigan - The Big Lefty, Dartmouth -Another Pretty big Athletic Two Handed Player, TBD.

Not Sure Bullis has the D by a mile.
Landon
Yale, Ohio State, and a lot of competition for the third and fourth spots.

Goalie - Landon has Michigan in Goal.

FO - Williams or Amherst, but very athletic for a FOGO - Will definitely score a lot of goals in Transition.

The Landon Midfield is the big question mark.

Landon will have the best attack in the league. The Michigan signee has started since he is a freshman and was by far their best player in the extremely shortened season last Spring. The Dartmouth verbal (current) is another big athletic kid who can go either direction. I think Landon's attack will create match up problems for opposing teams defense given two of their attackman are very big for HS kids. I have also been told... they have a freshman attacker who will start and some club coaches are calling "joey epstein" good.

The times I saw the goalie play this Summer for DC Express and this Fall, he can play. Their defense is very good with an Ohio State commit and Yale commit.

Landon will be a tough out for anyone this year, including Bullis. I do think Bullis is the better team though.

Not sure if the DMV will ever see another Joey Epstein.
