Lottery Results

Really surprised by the Key PK this year. #4 on wait list is no preference - last yr something like 20 in-boundary kids were wait listed. Good news for OOB families.

Other observations?

Put all our eggs in one basket.

Got it! (Prayers answered.)

PP that's a great number for West. And you got into Takoma. That's Reggio Emilia-- I know someone there this year and it's been good for them (PS).

We did not get in anywhere for PK. But I know it's early in the process.

This is my first year participating in the lottery, so I'm not yet clear what these numbers will mean (in terms of odds of actually making it in off the waitlist), but my PS application yielded the following:

Capital Hill Montessori NO YES 15 No Preference
Peabody No YES 166 No Preference
Ludlow-Taylor NO YES 63 No Preference
Tylor Spanish Immersion NO YES 77 No Preference
Bancroft NO YES 210 No Preference
Cleveland Dual Language No YES 77 No Preference

At this point, I'm encouraged by our #15 spot at Capital Hill Montessori, but assume it's almost certainly a wrap at the others.

Now, it's time to wait out the Charter School lotteries (oh, how I wish they held them around the same time, rather than over a 6 week period)...

We are in bound for Takoma and got in. There are a few charters we prefer, but getting in here is a big relief.

I applied for 2nd grade:
number 3 for Hearst
number 7 for Lafayette
number 13 for Janney.

I am not terribly interested in Hearst - but do I have a chance at Lafayette?

We are in low 30s for Eaton (best number). Anyone think we have a shot?
Anonymous
19:54, why not Hearst? We really liked what we saw but were looking at PK.

how is this possible. I was checking how many people are wait listed for 2nd grade at lafayette since my son is now on the waitlist. I was just being curious so I checked the number 1 person on the lafayette wait list. I took their tracking number to see what other schools they applied to and what there positions were. Here were the results. How could they be #1 for 2 schools?
And number 2 AND 3 for highly regarded schools?

Brent Elementary School 44
Eaton Elementary School 3
Stoddert Elementary School 1
Mann Elementary School 2
Janney Elementary School 82
Lafayette Elementary School 1

19:54 here
I was looking mostly at 2 other schools, and just put hearst on my application for whatever. We are actually at a school that we like - and are really just testing the waters!
