I don't want to switch twice in two years. Our daycare has a fantastic PS/PK program, our child loves it there, we have a baby arriving around the same time he'd be switching schools, so it seems like a lot of unnecessary upheaval. If we'd gotten into somewhere where we knew for sure we'd keep him at least into mid-elementary school or preferably later, then we'd take the spot. But I'm not excited enough about West vs. our current option to move him just for the sake of not paying for daycare for two years. West was our #6 option and one I sort of threw in there. I'm not disparaging West, just saying that it is not a long-term solution for us and we're not looking for short-term options.

Are you willing to share the name of your preschool? we're trying to find something good for our 2 1/2 year old and you seem really pleased with yours. Thanks.

number 13 for Janney.

I am not terribly interested in Hearst - but do I have a chance at Lafayette?

Why are you not interested in Hearst. We got a spot.

We're going to Hearst (in-bounds). Seriously people, give it a shot, it's an awesome little school, and the building is being totally rehabbed over the summer (plus a new building next year). Great principal too. I think in a year or two it's going to be the next big thing.

we are in bounds and will give it a shot in a few years. hope to meet you!

My son was accepted to Leckie for Pre-K. I will not be moving to DC until late July instead of June because of some military training. Do you think his spot will be taking away?

No. Communicate with the school and get a letter from your commander or whatever the school recommends.

01:49, might check with jubilee Jumpstart in Adams Morgan. They are actually part of the preK for all program so once the child is ready for pre school (fall when they are three) the regular day is free. You just pay for before/aftercare. So if they have a 2.5 spot, you can go right into preschool and then play the lottery for a longer term solution.

number 10 for ross....any chance?

What grade are you #10 for at Ross?
Do you have any preference, i.e. IB, OOB with sibling, proximity, etc.?
How does the list look above you? I heard for PS not all the IB got in.

Parents Beware: Do not send your 3yo to West. We enrolled and our normal child was removed by security for messing up a puzzle - initiated by his teacher and supported by the principal. The after care is utter chaos and poor supervision.
