Because the IAC schools in Montgomery County -- Bullis, Landon, and Prep -- and the IAC schools in Alexandria -- SSSAS and EHS -- draw the best lacrosse players who live in those public school districts. (And yes, even though EHS is a boarding school, it draws many very strong players who grow up in Alexandria.) Bethesda Lacrosse Club and Alexandria Lacrosse Club do a great job of developing local players, arguably better than other local rec programs, but they happen to be right in the IAC's backyard. Loudoun, Fairfax, and Prince William do not face as much competition from very strong private school programs in the close vicinity. |
Of course that's a big reason that there are plenty of IAC kids who would otherwise go to Churchill, Whitman, etc. But plenty of Fairfax kids go to Gonzaga, Landon, etc. Loudoun has less exposure, so that is why they have the best public school lacrosse right now. As for development, the rec programs aren't really "developing" players. Certain programs have more success, but that is usually because they have kids who are exposed earlier to top club competition. ALC isn't any more successful than McLean, Vienna, Dulles South, etc. There's a reason why McLean and Alexandria have a lot of kids who are good at lacrosse: money and parents able to provide the best. |

a kid from Quince Orchard (Montgomery County) just committed to the Navy Academy. Great to see MOCO public school kids heading to D1 programs!
|
He plays for madlax. |
You mean the club whose owner threatens his own clients? |
And gets them committed to top D1 colleges, yes. |
| The kid gets himself committed to college based on his skills, grades and work ethic, not the douchebag club coach. |
I've never replied to this thread. But a kid like that could have surely done well at any club that didn't deal with the Mad King. |
Must be a newbie with a youth kid. Here's the landscape: 1. A club is contacted and csnbgelp, but it's the kid who gets himself recruited, not the club. So playing $400 for the VA Madlax recruiting service is robbery. 2. Madlax, BW and VLC all do a comparable track record with college placement. Some grades are better than others depending in the club, but for the DMV, you must have your kid play for 1 of these 3 if you are serious about college lax. 3. If you have your son play for this club, you are telling your son you are willing to bend your family's morals. You are saying you are willing to pay a guy who has a track record of mistreating people as long as it's your son's teammate and not your son. |
An a$$hole, a pedophile, or an alcoholic... Choose your poison. |
Quince Orchard has a decent lacrosse program. Great news like this helps build up the program for the school and public school lacrosse generally. |

I agree.
Have to admire any young man who wants to serve too! |

| DTT weirdo - GO AWAY! It is tired and old....move on, get a life. If you don't like it then stop clicking on it and looking at it. Don't you have anything better to do with your time? |
So which is it.. . 1. honorable or 2. If you have your son play for this club, you are telling your son you are willing to bend your family's morals. You are saying you are willing to pay a guy who has a track record of mistreating people as long as it's your son's teammate and not your son. |
