Looking ahead to IAC and WCAC tourneys, here are some big questions for the top four in each league:
IAC 1) Bullis - Can they continue to dictate tempo as they have in IAC league play? Their bench hasn't been stressed yet this season. 2) Prep - Can they consistently get good possessions and resist bad shots? Their achilles heel has been their own offensive lapses. 3) Landon - Can they win enough faceoffs to win rematches against Prep then Bullis? Hard to score without the ball. 4) StA - Can they put Bullis on the ropes twice in a week? They have a knack for keeping it close against the Falls Road Bulldogs. WCAC (assuming the top four advance to semis) 1) PVI - Can they keep the magic going? Their senior class has carried them all year. 2) GC - Can they prevent runs? In their league losses, they've had stretches in games where things got away. 3) SJC - Can they find consistency? Their good is great and their bad is baffling. 4) GZ - Can they make games full field shootouts? Their best chance it to make games chaotic and thrive on it. |

I am a former HS and low level college coach that has moved on to a second career. I love watching these two leagues compete. So many great players, who will excel at the college level.
Below is my all-star team across WCAC and IAC. One man's opinion formed by in-person viewing, streams, hudl etc. It is based on this HS season. Not IL rankings, club circuit film etc. Good luck in playoffs to all the kids. Attack - Han (GP), Mackey (GC), Hawkins (Landon) Mid - Gilmore (PVI), Keuhl (Bullis), Demarinis (GC) SSDM - Wade (Bullis) LSM - Mathura (Landon) Defense - James (SJC), McGlone (Prep), Cronin (SJC) FOGO - Reposa (Prep) Goalie - Inzer (SJC) Area Positional Rank for 2026 (Depth of Talent) 1. Midfield 2. SSDM 3. LSM 4. Def 5. Attack 6. Goalie 7. FOGO POY (playoffs can change this; but most college and pro sports do awards before playoffs, so figured why not) WCAC - Gilmore - Leads best offense in area; physical, athletic dodger; gets a ton of attention from other teams. Made massive plays in the biggest games. Change of direction gets him space. Runner- Up - Inzer IAC - Keuhl - Nobody gets more defensive attention from other teams than him, and it's not close. Classic two way. Doesn't force it. Goals, assists, GB's, CTO's every game. Excellent vision for a downhill dodger. Runner Up - Han |
| Firstly, you are not a former HS coach and secondly you have never coached college. Clearly a SJC bias going on. Unlikely you have watched enough games to make accurate predictions. All star team will be determined by coaches when they submit the first team ballots at the end of the season. Much of this boils down to who wins the championship. |
Easy Karen, we get it. Your kid was left off the list. It's ok. |
Take it easy there, lax Dad. Pretty sure OP said his opinion, not some official ballot. No idea where, if or when he coached. Agree with some choices, some I don’t. I do agree with OP’s position ranking for dmv, 100%. |
It feels like this either pushing kids you know or following hyped up commits. I agree with other commenters that lis is SJC biased. Gilmore is good enough but maybe not quite POY. Inzer might not even be the best option in goal at SJC. He got lucky to commit before colleges realized he was only mediocre. He is solid but not a gamer. James (SJC) is a penalty waiting to happen and not first team caliber. DM’s fogo would merit consideration if the team wasn't so lousy. DeMarinis is other possible POY if they can extend their season. |
| Yeah this dude loaded up his “all star team”with a bunch of over hyped SJC kids, not sure if he knows what he is watching but their defense is Swiss cheese. Gave up 10 on GC. I would not want any of those players playing D on my team. |
Like everything in life it’s from the lens we each view from. I actually thought the list was biased towards IAC. |
lost me at Cadets goalie. |
| Nobody is more anti-SJC this year than current SJC parents whose kids don't play. |
| Looks like a SJC and GC rematch in the playoffs. Should be a game to watch. |
|
SJC parents are rooting for other players on the roster to play poorly so their son steps on the field.
Everything you need to know about the culture Wes Speaks has created at Military Road. When you over-recruit and over-promise, this is what happens. It doesn't matter how strong a recruiting class Speaks brings in with the incoming freshman class if the players don't learn to play together as a team. |
Thanks JV GC dad. At least offensively, their JV team is really only 1 kid. (And to be honest, so is Landon's team). GC's JV goalie is pretty good. |
| GC will crush SJC Thursday. Getting the popcorn ready. |
While GC's team is strong this spring, its widely known they float 2 - 4 varsity kids down for JV games. Just to be clear, these aren't varsity starters who see big minutes, but it does provide added depth. Regardless, Dane has done a great job building GC's program. There is a reason their varsity is having the success it is this year: it starts with attracting good talent and having a strong coaching staff. The Falcons trajectory is on the up-swing, sure, they might take a small step back next spring but it won't be as dramatic as many are predicting. |
