Floating kids down is a major problem in player development. Even Landon is now doing it as the amount of players has declined.

Discussing JV is kinda weird. Doesn’t translate to future varsity success. JV is more of an option for kids to play who otherwise wouldn’t have any opportunities.

Maybe at lesser lax schools, but not at places like GP, Bullis, La, GZ and SJC. On last year's stacked Landon team, only 1 of their seniors made varsity as a freshman. Shouldn't be hard to guess.

No we are not.

3 kids from SJC is hardly loading up.

Landon doesn't float kids down from varsity, but keep telling yourself that.

The smaller co-ed schools generally need to float kids down to field a competitive team, so I understand the rationale behind it.

Sorry Landon parent bc I am one too. They absolutely floated down at the end of the regular season. Poles and attack.

Are all high school sports as messed up as lacrosse or is it just the people who post to this board? It’s high school people.

Yes. High school lacrosse is being discussed on this high school lacrosse board where you are reading and posting.

Who cares? It’s JV. Call it floating up or floating down, but it happens at a lot of places. Nothing to be ashamed of.

The head coach of varsity is Will McGettigan. He's always very open to questions and concerns from parents.

Below is my all-star team across WCAC and IAC. One man's opinion formed by in-person viewing, streams, hudl etc. It is based on this HS season. Not IL rankings, club circuit film etc. Good luck in playoffs to all the kids.

Attack - Han (GP), Mackey (GC), Hawkins (Landon)
Mid - Gilmore (PVI), Keuhl (Bullis), Demarinis (GC)
SSDM - Wade (Bullis)
LSM - Mathura (Landon)
Defense - James (SJC), McGlone (Prep), Cronin (SJC)
FOGO - Reposa (Prep)
Goalie - Inzer (SJC)

Area Positional Rank for 2026 (Depth of Talent)
1. Midfield
2. SSDM
3. LSM
4. Def
5. Attack
6. Goalie
7. FOGO

POY (playoffs can change this; but most college and pro sports do awards before playoffs, so figured why not)
WCAC -
Gilmore - Leads best offense in area; physical, athletic dodger; gets a ton of attention from other teams. Made massive plays in the biggest games. Change of direction gets him space.
Runner- Up - Inzer

IAC -
Keuhl - Nobody gets more defensive attention from other teams than him, and it's not close. Classic two way. Doesn't force it. Goals, assists, GB's, CTO's every game. Excellent vision for a downhill dodger.
Runner Up - Han

Bullis (top IAC) + PVI (top WCAC) have 3 players combined, but SJC and Prep have 6 players. Good thing they play the games, this reads like a pre-season list.

Is it really floating down if the players never got a minute in varsity games?

A comment on the this from a post above.

I have watched Bullis, Prep and Landon play and I did not see "great" high school players. And it's my experience that impact college players almost always stand out in high school games especially at crunch time.
