Yes, please come back, I want a nice backpack- what do you have? |
I was going to ask about this! I'm not sure they qualify as "designer" but they are extremely well made. I live on Capitol Hill and see them everywhere-- especially with older woman. I think I'm the youngest to wear them and I'm 50. |
Nope! I'm 42 and have one (just one though - it's a gorgeous bucket bag and as you say the quality is there). I wouldn't want a collection - my other bags are from other designers - but I do like mine |
NP, but I live in North Arlington and love my Longchamp Le Pliage bags! I carry them everywhere, including on my commute, every day. I have 5 of the large totes and 3 mediums. They are lightweight and hold a laptop easily. They are great for travel too. Each of my kids gets to choose one to use as a carry-on when we travel. My favorite is a navy blue large Le Pliage tote with a cat face -- the "Miaou." I should start carrying it more often. I don't care if people think it is not stylish. I think it is fabulous. Yay for my cat bag! Also, FWIW (probably not much), I work in public-facing profession and people do often tell me that they consider me "fashionable." I think it is probably right that the Longchamp tote itself is not a "fashion statement," but it is definitely a classic and a wardrobe staple for many. |
I think they fall in the same category as the old school American Dooney bags (not the trendier ones, but the old school two-tone leather ones) and old school American Coach bags (the plain leather ones with the brass turnlock), which is a classic staple that holds up and is well made and can be handed down. You see a lot on wealthy older ladies. |
This! It isn't light, but it is very well made and super tough. I use it regularly and I'm sure one of my kids will snag it and take it to college with them 10 yrs from now. https://www.google.com/search?q=coronado+leather+backpack&client=safari&sxsrf=AOaemvIwszGd7Fvn8S-3adhwDtFFHqL0xA%3A1630431500160&source=hp&ei=DGkuYYKaB4iIhwP1_5DoBA&iflsig=ALs-wAMAAAAAYS53HMuQXtAV4EwIpduIburaN9BMuLyh&oq=cor&gs_lcp=Cgdnd3Mtd2l6EAEYADIECCMQJzIECCMQJzIECCMQJzIFCAAQkQIyCggAELEDEIMBEEMyBQgAEJECMgQIABBDMgQIABBDMgQIABBDMgQIABBDOg0ILhDHARCvARAnEJMCOgsILhCABBDHARCjAjoRCC4QgAQQsQMQgwEQxwEQ0QM6DgguEIAEELEDEMcBEKMCOgUIABCABDoECC4QQ1C-DljuEWC9ImgAcAB4AIABjQGIAfgCkgEDMC4zmAEAoAEB&sclient=gws-wiz |

Dang, I literally just ordered a YSL small loulou puffer. Guess I’m a basic bich. Hahah!
Also waiting to hear about Celine?!? |
They are very distinctive and suit certain wearer types very well, but maybe not something one passes down to her daughter. I am admittedly hard on my purses but I didn't do well with Brahmin. Mine was in exotic texture with right angles (not rounded) and they did not keep the finish very well. Ditto the handles and the strap. |
| I'm just glad I stuck with this thread long enough to witness the "don't have time to care" about bags backpack subthread offer up a recommendation for a $700 backpack. What a world. |
| I also ended up with a fair amount of Furla. |

Tumi and Timbuk2. Durable, pretty lightweight, washable.
I supposed that says: Mama ain't got money for anything fancier. |

Timbuktu gives me bike messenger vibes |
Not PP, but I have a Lo & Sons leather backpack and I always get compliments. |
