You don't seem to understand the COVID rules, or are intentionally mispresenting them. The Saint James didn't break state nor county rules. If they did they'd get shutdown immediately. They're running high profile events with obvious oversight from all involved government organizations. And no, I am not affiliated with The Saint James. But your comment is too dumb not to comment on. |
And you are too stupid to understand the pp understands the rules just fine and is criticizing the school's response to canceling in person education and sports altogether while places like the STJ are picking up and running with it. |
Schools will 100% be in session in person come September 1st IN PERSON, BUSINESS as usual. This country is vaccinating close to 1.3M people per day and its only going to increase as more vaccines become available. (J&J will be approved soon as others) Of course States had some bottlenecks and the logistics of signing up and finding a vaccination site is a PAIN in the ASS, but were less than 6 weeks into this. Stay positive as something tells, by the middle of May, every state will begin looking like how things are currently down in Florida. Not to mention, with the current vaccination rate (only two have been FDA approved, and there are about 5 others coming soon), many Doctors are thinking close to 70% of the American population will have developed herd immunity by Q4. Fall sports and schools will be open come September. IF this bothers you, then pack your bags and move over to Europe. The EU has down such a masterful job with their vaccine rollout
|
Why add in the snarky last sentance? I don't think schools will be 5 days a week and I don't think all Fall sports will return business as usual. Remember where you live. Schools should re-open 5 days and all sports should resume but they won't. If this bothers you, pack your bags and move to most other areas of the country. |
What facts do you to support your reasoning here? |
| Stop. No one cares about this. Keep it to lax. |
| it is about lax, or the lack of it. |
What facts do have to support schools and sports are going back to normal in the fall? One of the first to shut down and one of the last to open. Vaccine rollout is a disaster and teachers are fighting like crazy not to return to school. Budgets are blown due to no businesses generating taxes and people unemployed so no income tax to support the public institutions. Sports and lax will be among the first to be cut. I am old enough to remember when public elementary and middle schools had sports programs and they are all but gone. |
You are NAIVE! Montgomery County govt officials and liberal teacher unions gutted the K-12 population this past year and thus far in 2021 as well; they have set the precedent where even 1 day a week could be considered "re-opening". They have no regard for the damage closing schools and economy have had on well being of children, businesses and families. Based on their actions, noone should have any faith in MOCO prioritizing the needs of students. FL policy makers on other hand had the basic common sense to protect seniors and those with known vulnerabilities right away and keep the other 90% of society open - healthy young school age children and working population moved forward with their lives. Pretty simple right? The result is students in places like FL have had a healthy and productive year of development (school, extracurriculars and lots of sports); the economy is much stronger and there is more natural acquired immunity and very low fatality ratio in the population (compare to CA which did severe lockdowns and has more problems). MOCO Govt does not follow science or schools would have opened in person early August - they cherry pick "facts" to control the sheep population through fear mongering. Wait for more intrusion into your lives to unfold in 2021, more govt mandates, negative covid tests required from healthy K-12 children to do basic things; more contact tracing, teachers finding more reasons to avoid teaching in person (e.g. HVAC must be completely replaced). Walmart and Home Depot have been open throughout, but not the schools, pathetic! |
| boy that escalated quick |
| Back to the actual topic - does anyone think there will be any impact freshman at any of the top programs? Seems like there's always 1 or 2 in each conference. |

IAC has having spring sports starting in April.
My son said it would be a league only schedule, home and home series. Looks like the WCAC is also doing the same thing. Not sure if leagues are allowing out of league games. |
Dematha is on Mt. St. Joe's schedule. The numbers are dropping so fast there is no reason not to play a full schedule even if they want to restrict crowds, bleachers and such. The athletic directors should have been planning on full schedules but the headmasters and presidents of the privates stuck their heads in the sand. |
| start practice when if matches in April? |
| Most privates have already been practicing in some form or fashion, whether it's just skills and drills or regular practice. The privates attending school have also been testing along the way. |
