PP doesn't care about One Fairfax. She only cares about getting Forestville in to Herndon and Hutchison out. Go back and read earlier posts. I guess it's the same PP who has been complaining about Forestville for a long time. |
And Forestville’s commute would be 1/4 as long. https://www.fcps.edu/onefairfax |
Actually, it would be half. Forest Edge would triple Hutchison would close to doubling for high and many are walkers to middle--so their commute would significantly increase. But, the main difference is the disruption. Again, Forestville already goes to Langley and is happy to make the commute. The others? Doubtful. Most people don't want to change schools. I guess you don't understand that. Why disrupt all these neighborhoods? What will it accomplish? What do you hope to get from this? |
You should get your facts right, ask fewer rhetorical questions, and come to terms with the fact that FCPS has committed to considering equity in its decision making. |
It is not a rhetorical question. I honestly would like an answer. Please explain because I do not understand how it will help to upset lots of neighborhoods--essentially all that you plan to move. What is it going to accomplish? |
Forestville kids would attend schools closer to their homes; FCPS would send a message that it doesn’t want to see poverty concentrated at a handful of schools like Herndon; and Forest Edge is closer to Langley than Forestville. No anger - just a commitment to One Fairfax. If you think One Great Falls > One Fairfax, maybe GF should become its own county. So you are saying spreading the kids around will eliminate poverty? If folks don't want to go to schools maybe THEY should move rather than playing God with other peoples lives. Right now the houses in the western part of GF are not selling. This might be a great time for Herndon folks to buy there. Then we will see how much they would enjoy a hit on their home. The folks who can afford it will simply move east or send there kids to private school. Folks are not interested in socioeconomic engineering so wannabees can be happy. The world doesn't work that way. Rather than bitching about the lives of the downtrodden you might want to consider ridding yourselves of MS13 members who bully kids at your schools. If you feel so strongly about improvement you might want ONE FAIRFAX to provide a safe environment for the students in the Herndon pyramid. Right now the kids in Herndon HS have to allow the bully's and teenage criminals/gang members to grab food off their plates in the cafeteria. That's a fact. The folks in GF will spend their last dime to assure that doesn't happen. The folks on this thread are demanding the wrong kind of change. Take One Fairfax and shove it. Our kids aren't going to that S*^& Hole. |
You're just saying that. How do you know gang members are allowed to grab food off other students' plates |
Several friends live in that district and have spoken of it. I'm not talking about the chubby kid with the glasses who is afraid to say anything. I am talking about male student athletes. There are hallways that everyone knows you can't walk down without reprisals. My daughter's God Mother yanked her kids out of there, both boys, and sent them to catholic school. Our son was in Troop 1577 in Herndon Presbyterian and we heard it frequently. Sadly, it was a common occurrence. It is not uncommon for undercover cops and ICE to be in the parking lot to grab a criminal when the last bell rings. Sorry.......not a player for that stuff. |
But, Forest Edge is closer to South Lakes than to Langley and I'm pretty sure they have always been assigned to South Lakes? Kind of doubt they would like your plan. You also would move kids out of their neighborhood middle school where many could walk. No one deliberately decided to have pockets of poverty in Herndon. It just happened. Herndon also has students from relatively affluent areas. And, you still have not explained what the advantage will be. How will this help kids. Which kids will it help? You still have not answered that question. And, I live in an area that has been through several boundary redistrictings and think they should not happen unless there is a very good reason. I follow this because I have seen how arrogant the SB can be when they move kids around like chess pieces. I am still waiting to know how this would make things better for kids. That should be the only reason to move kids. If a school is way overcrowded when be an example of a good reason to move students. Pockets of poverty? Not so much. I do not live anywhere near Great Falls. In fact, not one of the schools you are moving is in my district. Some are nearby, however. |
Cool story, bro. Still seems like a good idea to adjust the boundaries. |
So,now I get it. OP doesn't care at all about One Fairfax. She just wants to kick out the poor kids. |
I have no idea what the OP wants, all I know is my kids are not going to Herndon. The school board would serve the kids in the Herndon pyramid better by cracking down on criminals using the school system as a retail outlet for crime and drugs. Not that Langley doesn't have it's share of drugs because they do. But MS13 should not be in ANY of our schools. It's not fair to the students regardless of where they live. We all need to stand together on that. |
After reading about the spoiled brat GF parents having temper tantrums about their kids interacting with us poor folk, I’d rather deal with MS13. What should the GF gang of hateful parents be called: MotherFuc$ers13? |

I would love for the bully great falls parents to spend money on this. That's the cool thing about having money. You can spend it to protect your kids from a school system that sees no problem letting MS13 members cultivate new members in our public schools. It is too bad you are more focused on hatred toward GF parents than you are vicious gang members. Twisted thinking IMO. |
