Have a good 7th grade boys basketball team play a great freshman girl’s team.
you would think it would be a close game, and you will be shocked to see that it won’t be.
The girls will get creamed.

HS boys, probably.

7th grade, no way.

Oh yes.

Who cares? It’s high school sports. Your Larla will be ok if she places 2nd due to the 0.06% chance that a) there is a transitioned female at her HS; b) that transitioned female is interested in the same sport as Larla and c) that transitioned female is good at that sport. 99.9% of your Larlas will not be playing sports professionally and none of this matters in the greater scheme.

And in spite of the idea that trans is trendy and more or more kids are doing it...no. The same percentage as always theorized exists, they are just no longer hiding, so it seems like it is becoming trendy. But do not confuse visibility with increasing numbers.[/quote]

What really confuses this issue is most of the "trans" kids now, actually call themselves non-binary or genderfluid and no, this is not a minuscule population. It's a big thing among high schoolers. A few years ago at my daughter's HS, a biological girl, who considers herself non-binary wanted to run for homecoming king instead of queen. Her reasoning, was since she doesn't consider herself female or male, why shouldn't she be able to have a choice? The principal said no, because she doesn't identify as a male, and he didn't think it would be fair to the boys running. How does one handle these non-binary and genderfluid kids? They have adopted the trans label too

Clearly you are not the parent of a HS girl who is a very serious athlete, very good at her sport, hopes to play that sport in college and (possibly) hopes to earn a scholarship of some sort based on her athletic ability.

Way to be dismissive of the importance of athletics for girls.

Some Larlas are gonna get bumped from teams, miss out on scholarships, miss out on the experience and self esteem boosts of winning. Some Larlas are going to learn that their bodies aren’t enough, not even in women’s sports.

And Larlo/now Larla will be fine if they play with the boys or don't play at all. Girls without gender confusion shouldn't be asked to step aside for kids who do.

Exactly.

Great way to regress 100 years to a time when girls didn't play sports.

I hate when people calling being trans/gay/non binary trendy. Sure it is trendy to have a large percentage of the population automatically hate you. It is trendy to have higher than average suicide rates. It is trendy to have higher than normal risk of being the subject of violence.

I can totally see why someone would want all that.

Yep. SEVENTH GRADE BOYS. so, delaying puberty has no real impact to level the playing field.

Honey, this isn’t Omaha. This is Arlington..99.9 % of APS parents are thrilled to make everyone feel welcome. They just don’t like cheating. That’s all.

What about the non-binaries and gender-fluids? What team do they get to play on, what locker room do they use? They consider themselves trans but they don't identify with a particular gender. This issue is getting more and more complicated.

But it is. I don't see how you can deny the reality of that today without sticking your head in the sand. Every generation has some way of rebellion. It's been hippies, punk, goth, emo, anorexia, cutting, tattoos, piercings. Today it's playing with gender. Trans, non-binary, gender-fluid. You can't say that there isn't some sort of trend going on. Puberty is always a time of confusion and distorted thinking. And these days there's alot of it swirling around gender issues.

People don't realize that it's not like that anymore among the HS/College age crowd. I sub at various high schools and there is absolutely no social risk to being trans. I know it seems hard to believe but it really is true. And for non-binary, well - it really is a trend. Almost every alternative, emo kid is non-binary or genderfluid now. I really don't think adults have any idea how common this has become.
