DC Public and Public Charter Schools
| I think the real issue is that those living by Deal/Wilson bought where they did to avoid "the poors". Due to the lottery, they somehow managed to weasel into "their" neighborhood. So now they want these children to be arrested for swearing. |
They object to the obnoxious thuggish behavior of a few students who are bad enough to make the Tenleytown area downright unpleasant on some days when school gets out. |
Move. |
Move. Yeah, maybe some businesses in Tenleytown will move out, or raise prices, to offset the problems caused by these teens. But for someone who lives in Tenleytown, it's probably more effective to just contact your ANC rep and press for more police presence to "monitor" the teens and cite the misbehaving ones. Also put pressure on Wilson to kick out the teens who are causing neighborhood problems. Make it a no-fun zone. If we just make it really unappealing for teens to be around Tenleytown in the 3-6pm timeslot, they'll go somewhere else. Problem solved. |
AMEN. The most entitled bunch of crotchety jerks I've come across. |
| Someone should organize the local businesses and neighborhoods to collect money and pay for a couple extra off-duty police officers to keep the students in line during the 3-6pm period. Get the names of the troublemaker students when they're stopped, and advocate to DCPS to have them removed from Wilson and sent back to their neighborhood schools. |

Yes. Entitled much? To walk down the street without being forced to the curb or jostled? Not to have "youth" behave so recklessly that they make it dangerous for elderly residents to use the Metro escalators? To be able to walk and patronize businesses without exposing young children to f-bombs and other invective? To avoid being spat upon? Talk about entitlement. |
Wilson should remove the troublemakers. Give their spots to deserving kids who would love to have the chance to attend Wilson, who want to learn and who are willing to follow the rules. |
In time further gentrification in Washington should take care of some of the problem. But not soon enough. |
Why are you assuming "trouble makers" are oob? |
| Most of the 'troublemakers' at the Chipotle in Tenley were St. Albans apparel. |
As much as I loathe baby boomers of any gradation of wrinkles (particularly those with Parkinson's who pretend they're fit to be President), some teenagers really are more obnoxious and less well-bred than others. One threw a drink on my car because I chose not to speed on a street near the school. I guess she was in a hurry to get back to class from a late lunch and resented my determination to drive the speed limit? Who knows? She behaved like a cow. I have windshield wipers, so it wasn't a problem, but the fact that her parent(?s?) raised a barnyard animal instead of a young lady wasn't lost on me. |

It's cute the way you're so snide about people wanting to shield their children from the pathologies of poverty. No wait, it isn't cute at all - it's obnoxious. Is it safe to assume you deliberately moved into a neighborhood of "the poors"? The same "poors" you denigrate others for trying to avoid? Or, are you a complete hypocrite? Do tell. What is your neighborhood and what is your school? Or, are you just a blowhard? |
