He absolutely made her famous. She admitted it on the call. Horses mouth. Not much to debate there.

Also Kanye really did make her famous. Sure she won that VMA but it would've gotten half the attention if he hadn't jumped on stage. That really launched her and gained her more fans who felt bad for her. Like it or not....its true

NOBODY knew who Kanye was until he jumped on stage with Taylor.

Yea... yea they did. He's been around for a long time. Much more famous and much more talented

No, not more famous or talented. He gas less songs, less sales, less Twitter followers.

He is Kim's husband to most the world or that crazy guy who has emotional issues... No not Chris brown the other one.

Are you vapid? Playing dumb for some DCUM attention? Or what? I refuse to believe anyone is this stupid. You're basing fame on Twitter followers? Kanye has a tenured career in the music industry, and while he may not be your cup of tea, you cannot diminish his accomplishments. Kanye has 21 Grammy wins to Taylor's 10. Kanye has 57 Grammy nominations to Taylor's 39. He is a powerhouse and he's had incredible longevity in music and fashion because of how talented he is. You cannot take away from that just because you do cannot appreciate his music and his talents.

Explain why such a powerful guy would make it his mission to tear down a young rising star? Does that make him a big man..... or a big bully? Is he helping her or harassing her?

I think it must be overwhelming to someone like Taylor to be the target of this creep.

No dude here is the timeline of events:

Taylor wins VMA and kanye is a total dick by intervening at the speech. But that had literally nothing to do with TS. He cared that Beyonce lost when she should have won (which she should have come on I don't even remember what video she won for but I remember single ladies). Doesn't change the fact that it was super douchey.

Media blows the hell up and TS is painted as an unfortunate victim of a bully, this bolsters her national profile as she decides to go pop mainstream. No one will ever know if one contributed to the other.

Kanye and TS make up at last years VMAs and appear to have put it behind them.

Kanye puts out this song and taylor acts horrified.

Kim and kanye say taylor knew about the song and taylor denies it left and right, adjusting her story as evidence that kk have proof of their claims. During this time Taylor sends them some serious legal paperwork ordering them to destroy all evidence of the phone call and proof of the destruction (totally the behavior of someone with nothing to hide).

Kim releases tapes that directly contradict taylor, exposing her as a liar.

So really this story has come full circle. It started out with kanye being a dick and has ended with taylor being a dick, so let's not act like anyone involved (INCLUDING TAYLOR) is innocent

She was being passive aggressive!!! Why bring the 7 mil previously sold albums up at all if she was in complete agreement that Kanye's stunt is what made her famous? It was a (politely shrouded) dig.

When was it his mission to tear down a young rising star? Are you privy to some information that the rest of the world isn't? Because at no point was that his mission. He acknowledged that what he did the first time was a drunken debacle but it wasn't his intent then nor is it now to to tear down a young star. Taylor has dug her own grave and karma is serving her a slice of exactly what she's dished out - repeatedly.

Riddle me this, why has Taylor made it her mission to tear down incredibly talented young actors, musicians, and others who she has dated? And not just them, but also their significant others? (Camilla Belle INSTANTLY comes to mind) Does that make her a big woman... or a big bully? Is she helping them or harassing them?

I think it must be overwhelming to someone like Camilla (and every person who TS has ever dated) to be the target of this creep. (This creep being Swifty herself)

That's funny, because on the phone with Kanye, Swift said that she could totally understand how from his perspective it like I Jed like he made her famous.

I loved Kanye's early music - thought he was a brilliant artist (despite the fact that he was an a-hole for jumping on stage when Taylor won her award). But when he married Kim, I just list complete interest in him and never bought another album.

I do think it's possible that Taylor agreed to the bit about him having sex with her, but not the b-tch part, and the video doesn't negate that possibility. So o don't really think she's been proven a liar.

I think all of this hoopla reflects that people are irritated by her meticulously curated image, as PP put it, which has been so over the top lately that nobody really even believes that her current relationship is genuine. At the same time, there is a rabid fascination with her life.

I'm a bit intrigued by her whole persona, her power and inflyence at such a young age. Her music, not so much.

Anyway, this will probably all blow over.

Oh please. Only Taylor Swift fans know that song is about Camilla Belle. I am a new fan of hers since 1989 and I only became aware of that very recently with the media dredging up all her old "enemies." The media makes mountains out of molehills because they have nothing better to report than clickbait.

I don't know that as a new fan of Swift's that you are in any way able to comment on what she's said or done in the past. The thing with Camilla Belle was and is bigger than just some lyrics only TS fans know, and it was discussed in the media quite a bit. Even those who aren't fans of other have read about it and know about it. The media talking about her enemies is nothing new, and from the beginning, they've always discussed who her songs are about. The only thing new is you and your lack of knowledge about Swift's history.

She IS a bully herself. She has repeatedly been guilty of character assassination. And she fully deserves the backlash she is getting today after the #KimExposedTaylorParty.

So....selling 7 million albums doesn't make a person famous anymore?? Interesting.

1D has sold a lot of albums as well. . i think what kanye did back then was just so wrong, it garnered her attention so ppl outside of the tween audience own up to listening to her. Thats a big step forward.
I really cannot stand the Ks and listen to more Taylor swift lately when its on the radio but one thing that bothers me about her is that in this racially fraught time why doesn't she at least address the fact that she's the anointed Aryan princess and that she's not cool with that. I think Kanyes original attack on her, the scorn for Rihanna, who lets face it is head and shoulders more beautiful than pretty much any female celebrity, is all tinged with racial frustration. i mean Taylor Swift's behavior at this point is one giant microagression- she is acting like she's the typical racist white person from 1955 who'd never have the bad manners to say anything rude to a colored person but who certainly doesn't think they are her equals and also is appalled and taken aback at how crass and ill bred they are.

You are so so so racist.
Anonymous
So...a white person can't disagree/dislike a black person now without it being racist?? Maybe she just doesn't like him or want him talking or singing about her??

Uhhhh, who is Camilla Belle? Seriously I really do not know.

Taylor had no hand in writing Kanye's song or making that awful video. That is Kanye's nasty work. And HE can own it. Stop deflecting...

You can't approve or condone something you have never heard or seen. That is not a lie.

She tried ruining John Mayer, Harry Styles, Katy perry, that Camila girl years ago (calling her a WHORE because a Joe bro chose her) Etc? I'd have to say that all of her fame is built on music about "character assassinations" of other people

This stuff recently - I can get on board with them defending themselves. They knew how the phone call went and had the footage. But Kanye and Kim have been milking this supposed TS "feud" for years. Why include that stupid lyric in the first place? Why not just STOP TALKING ABOUT TAYLOR SWIFT since they dislike her so much and apparently find her mediocre? Just STOP talking about her publicly! Gee, novel idea I know.

This! For God's Sake. This whole thing is so petty and ridiculous. But I have a bridge to sell you if you think the Kardashians don't have a vested interest in keeping this stupid feud going.

Fine but as if TS hasn't done the exact same thing. If she didn't want to be linked to them then why make her whole Grammy speech about kanye? Its supposed to be about her triumph on an album that has nothing to do with him and she invoked the feud. Why "make up" with kanye publicly? TS is very aware of her image and curates every word and picture. She got tons of mileage off the first kanye incident so she tried for a repeat. Got burned trying.

When did she make her speech about Kanye. She did not say his name. She was speaking to young women artists to stand their ground and not get sidetracked and not let someone take credit. She didn't say "someone took credit from me." She gave advice, and maybe she was saying "I never let anyone take credit from me."

I've been a fan of hers since 07. I was 22. She had a huge fan base of not just teenagers. I've never been a fan of kanye's, but I've known of his work, and not just the radio stuff, from about the same time as I knew Taylor. I agree the Kanye and Taylor groups may have not overlapped on the Venn diagram. So both circles can honestly say he made her famous, or she made him. But fact is they're both talented, and they also both hustled their way up despite a lack of some other specific talent. Let's be real.
