The only difference between her and Kanye is he has the parts to name names, where TS just puts in coy little clues in her liner notes.

I respect Taylor and have a lot of her music - but people need to understand that she is not the cookies and puppies persona that her very clever marketing and PR team would have everyone buy into. Some of her lyrics are quite pointed and designed to be cruel (Dear John, anyone? Better than Revenge?). But, unlike Kanye, she posts enough cheery stuff in IG and the like that people give her a pass on it for some reason.

Taylor's lyrics have never named actual people (at least that I recall). She has said that the Mean song was directed at harsh critics and unfair criticism.

I think it's fair to say that her songs are inspired by relationships and her own experiences. But if you think about it that is the case with most artists and most songs.

I don't think that she has ever tried to destroy another person through her music. She isn't like that. But she is a writer and she writes about what she knows. And right now she's going through the ups and downs of dating, romantic distress, etc. They all do that.

You're so busy getting into a tizzy defending her, rather than having a discussion, that your reading comprehension is failing. I never said she named people - I credited Kanye for having the balls to name people. TS likes to do things like put cutesy hints in her liner notes so everyone who reads pop media knows exactly who the song is about, but sure still gets to play the doe eyed victim and claim it's just speculation.

Interesting that you give a pass to someone who would write "She's not what you think/ she's an actress/ but she's better known for the things that she does on the mattress". Yep, no ill will there. And I suppose you'll defend Dear John, too?

Again, I'm a TS fan, but I have to give Kanye kudos for at least being authentically who he is and owning that.

I have no idea who that actress on the mattress is supposed to be. And I think many of us have a "Dear John" in our lives.

Kanye can own that awful song that HE wrote and that video too. Those belong strictly to him and they are strictly HIS doing. Not Taylor's fault.

I don't think he feels bad about the song or the video. And no one is blaming Taylor for the song's existence (although I assume that that is why she back pedaled, when she realized the song wasn't exactly 'on brand' for TS). It seems that Kim feels angry that her husband tried to do something right by taylor, she seemed amenable, he did what he said he was going to do and then she lied about it to make it seem like he was bullying her.

The actress is WIDELY known to be Camilla Belle. Just like Bad Blood is WIDELY known to be about Katy Perry. Come on dude any Swift fan this obsessed knows EXACTLY who the songs are about.

Hasn't Katy Perry sort of laughed WITH Taylor about that Bad Blood video? I really don't think it made Katy look bad at all. And I think that most women can relate to some of the back stabbing nonsense fighting between women. Taylor just put it into words beautifully and that video is actually pretty amazing.

You're proof that marketing works. You probably buy "sale" items off end caps and infomercials, don't you?

Huh? You don't relate to music? That's really sad. Clapton's Layla was written about a specific woman but I think most men have a Layla in their lives at some point.

Don't bother with her pp. She's a delusional Swiftie. She will gladly eat up whatever marketing froth Taylor Swift throws her way.

I think that the Bad Blood video is very good because it makes the catty back stabbing very visual. Women don't typically come to blows with each other. Their fighting is quieter and more behind the scenes - undermining. The Bad Blood video shows what the fighting would look like if women fought "like guys" with their fists and real weapons instead of "words like swords and weapons that you use against me".

I like the video. It may not be your thing. That's o.k.

I actually think its a fun video and a catchy if somewhat redundant song. Doesn't change the fact that it was mean as crap an open insult to another major female pop singer.

And there is where you are wrong. You think that song is all about Katy Perry. It isn't. It is a song and a statement about female to female "wars" in general.

It's more than just a catchy song. I think it's a well written and executed piece.

Much of the media agrees that Kim and Kanye won this round over Taylor: http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/7439506/kanye-west-kim-kardashian-taylor-swift-feud-won

A few sample opinions:

Iyana Robertson, music editor, BET:

"There comes a time in every music diva’s life when the wool is pulled from the public’s eyes, and this time approaches faster than ever thanks to the Internet. Beyoncé had a family dispute in an elevator, and Taylor Swift got caught in a conversation she claims she didn’t have. While roasting the pop star on Twitter was a grand ol' time, it’s more important to note how unorthodox it was for Kanye West to make that call. The outspoken multi-hyphenate often gets flack for leading toasts to the assholes, but found himself in a territory that few rappers have gone before: asking for permission. Yes, Kanye – that Kanye – asked someone for permission. Much can be said about where this all leaves artistic license, but the victim buck stops here. Sorry, Ms. Swift."

Sylvia Obell, pop culture writer, BuzzFeed:

"Kimye takes this win hands down. Their execution was flawless because they remembered an often overlooked virtue of pettiness – patience. Whether it was planned or not, Kimye holding off on sharing that video allowed Taylor and her team to back themselves into a corner that’s really hard to spin their way out of (Exhibit A: that iPhone note screenshot that only addressed the "that bitch" portion of the “Famous”). But like, girl, those who have been paying close attention haven’t forgotten your rep’s statement saying that Ye “did not call for approval” and that you cautioned him about releasing a song with "such a strong misogynistic message." Last I checked, saying you take something as compliment isn’t very cautionary. And her attempt to play victim is a cheap shot because none of this would have happened if she hadn’t lied about being blindsided by all of this in the first place. Kim did not start this, she just finished it. Taylor just needs to take her first big L like a G (the way Beyoncé, Kendrick, and all the other artists who didn’t deserve to lose to her at various award shows did) and move on. People bounce back from bad videos everyday, just look at Kim."

Stacy-Ann Ellis, assistant editor, Vibe:

"Let me go on record to say this: In all of their time being "famous,” I've never been the biggest fan of the Kardashian/Jenner clan. Something about vapidness turns me off. But in her post-Fearless years (I seriously loved those songs and the humble girl who wrote them), Taylor Swift has worked her way even further under the epidermis than Kanye's shiny new family.

So it (ashamedly) thrilled me to see Kimberly Kardashian-West pull all the receipts from the bottom of her Balenciaga bag to silence Taylor's nagging, victim-y ways. It made me admire Kim in a whole new way. Not only did she make the journalist in me smile by having all her sources handy, credible and downright undeniable, but she doled out a valuable lesson in patience. She and Kanye knowingly sat on that video of Taylor giving the green light for "Famous" as Taylor pouted out her lower lip and assumed the helpless, bullied role in front of the flashing cameras after The Life of Pablo's release. The salaciously calm read—the footage was shared silently but widely via Kim's Snapchat after an episode of KUWTK—also made me tip my hat to Kimye in regards to their unwavering loyalty to each other. Even when no one believed 'Ye's claims that he received Swift's blessing, Kim stood by her husband's words and stepped out on a limb to clear his name in the pettiest, most public (but perfect) way possible. Salute, Kim."

The media LOVES Kanye and Kim - of course they are on their side with this. So what.

Wut? In what universe does the media love Kanye? To make fun of him, maybe. Kim gets made fun of plenty by the media, too.

This easily could have backfired on Kimye, but it has not. Most average reactions seem to be "I don't usually like the Kardashian empire but it really seems like Taylor Swift said one thing and then did another."

Not everyone is having this reaction, of course, I'm just saying it seems like the majority of people who watch the videotape are coming out that way.

Uh, yeah. They called Taylor and videotaped Taylor. I'm sure that they were not trying to set her up . Puh-lease.

What perfect words could Taylor have used in that situation to both 1) Get Kanye not to use her name in the song and 2) still remain on friendly terms with him.

"You know what I appreciate the sentiment but I think I'd rather not be mentioned. Thanks for thinking of me I'm just not sure its the right fit"
