Now Winsome is trying to Criticize Sparnberger for hiding Biden’s poor health lol. This criticism is going to fall flat like a bag of bricks. VA voters don’t care about this anymore when they are losing their jobs and he is no longer president.

A governor has no say in federal RIFs.

He can still talk to VA members of Congress and the president to push back on policies. The governor could also call a special session to get the legislature to pass bills to mitigate the impact of the layoffs. Right now, he is doing none of those things. The only thing he has done is said that he supports the layoffs and he made a website called Virginia had jobs. A minimum wage job making sandwiches (in Roanoke) 4 hours from your house in NOVA help you pay the bills when you were employed in medical research at the NIH.

Does not help*

Oh - you think Spanberger would reach out to Trump or DOGE to change their policies (with success)? Really?

In reality, what should have been done, and what I suppose could be done, is raising Virginia's unemployment compensation. It's pitiful. About $375/week. If you ever get it. It can be incredibly hard to achieve. Good luck ever getting a human on the phone too.

+1 Youngkin won on Covid normalcy + McAuliffe coming back and acting like he had it in the bag. Neither of those is happening this time. Spanberger by 7.

True true. Other poster right too that Spanberger is a limousine liberal. But, she will win by a huge landslide anyway. More than 7 points. Double digit landslide. It doesn't matter who runs against Sears. Any D will win by a landslide due to DOGE.

Spanberger doesn’t even fit that characterization. She is ex-CIA and has been elected in a fairly centrist district in VA. She was rated the fifth most bipartisan member of Congress at one point. More like a Mark Warner than an AOC type.

I’ve no doubt the MAGA crowd will attack her as a limousine liberal, but that will only play to hard-core Trumpers. Others will readily see through it.

+1

I don’t think it’s a lock. Spanberger is not universally loved down in Richmond, and she comes across to a lot of people as boring and a flip flopper. She initially was advertised as a moderate when she ran for Congress and then has become more of a politician (which they all do at some point) bending her views towards the progressive.

Really curious what anyone thinks is progressive about Spanberger.

Liar. That’s not what he said.

Right. So your kid had to wear a mask a month or two less than everywhere else. Anti maskers are fcking idiots.

He said that “parents should not tell teachers how to teach”. There is some truth to this statement, but it is politically stupid to say. I would also be pissed as a parent if a teacher was not considering my feedback as it relates to my childrens education in the classroom.

The idiots were masking 2 year olds per VA Dept of Health guidance, for example, and had schools closed over 1 year.

My DC only missed 3 months of school. Then back 5 days a week in person. No vaccine.

Nothing happened.

I could not even fathom the loss of a year of education. No, we are not the idiots in the room sweetie

Yeah it was a dumb move for all the VA republicans to tie themselves to supporting federal job cuts in our state. You have to stand up for your people, not give some mealy mouthed statement about “we hope these cuts can be done with dignity and respect for our workers” or whatever. Looking at you, Pat Herrity.

I’m sure this picture is exactly why Sparnberger decided to emphasize her support for assault weapons ban. If Sears doubles down on this issue she will lose decent number of voters.

No doubt

Herrity was running for Lt. Gov. but has dropped out for health reasons.

Unfortunately things have taken a turn and she’s now supporting a 15 dollar minimum wage. I think this is unnecessary and would hurt more people than it would help. The only people making less than 15 in Fairfax county are teenagers. Teenagers and others who are starting out need those opportunities to get onto the ladder and raising the minimum wage reduces those opportunities. Plus we are probably heading towards some type of deflation.

Not enough to get me to vote for Sears but I hope that Spanberger will stay away from these kind of things that sound great in theory but in reality are net negatives.

Spanberger will continue to lean left. Hopefully not a winning strategy in the fall.

Spanberger will win huge..hard to run a worse candidate than Sears who is fine losing the VA governor race to stay in Trump’s good graces.

Doesn’t make much sense to me as she has zero national potential.

I don't trust her at all. I think Virginia runs better off normal conservatism (NOT Trumpism). Sears or Miyares would have my vote.

Sears would be the first black woman governor EVER yet Democrats want to pass over her for a pale white lady who carpetbagged to run for Congress in Nova (she lives in the Richmond area).

She can't even say the border is bad or that men shouldn't play in women's sports, yet I hear everyone talking about how moderate she is.

I am begging someone to tell me when/how she has voted against Democrats on something. What is so moderate about her?

Your litmus test for being moderate involves right wing talking points?
