4 students in University of Idaho, killed in their home.

It’s typical for each bedroom to have its own lock in a college shared living situation. The roommates slept late after a long night, went to check on their roommates and couldn’t get in their doors due to them being locked. They may have called friends to come over and help (maybe boyfriends?) and they couldn’t open the door either. They called the police thinking someone may be passed out due to alcohol poisoning since they weren’t responding or able to get into the room.

This is my theory too. Killer locked the doors, and for the person they called 911 for maybe it was highly unusual for that person to be asleep until then or they had plans with that particular person so they knew something was wrong (whereas the other closed doors made sense if those other roommates tended to sleep in late.) They assume alcohol poisoning and call friends for backup. They report “unresponsive” to 911 because when they knock they get no response. Not sure why the caller wouldn’t use their own phone, though, that’s weird.

Can’t believe people think the ex bf is innocent just because his family and the girl’s family say so. Many abusers are charmers and master manipulators, and due to shame and fear of people not believing them (due to charming nature of partner and frankly probably bias against women), the person being abused stays silent.

Find that hard to believe. Someone is waiting in the dark, the friendly dog runs up to him, he grabs the dog, kills it, skins it, fillets it. What are the chances you'd encounter a sicko like this in the same community where 4 young people are brutally murdered a couple of weeks later? This incident is so, so disturbing to say the least.

I saw a story that said that the two surviving roommates had gone to bed and locked their bedroom doors while there were still a lot of people partying in the house after they all got home. It sounded from the story that the house was unlocked with people coming and going and so these two locked their bedroom doors to go to sleep (about 3:00am).

I agree.. that’s why I think it’s interesting… because if they said something this confidently, they must know something we don’t. As serious as this crime is and as much as people want answers, I don’t think they would be casual about dismissing this. Criminologist I saw interviewed also said this person had probably killed animals before.

Something that stands out is that the dog was not harmed and no reports of barking, growling, etc. So the dog was either subdued somehow, let out of the house or perhaps in one of the rooms of the remaining roommates. No way a dog would not be barking even if it was locked in bathroom, etc. b/c they would still be able to hear/smell intruder and they would try like crazy to alert others to danger.

Locals on Reddit said dog was barking for long time that night. Sadly it was not that unusual so it was ignored. However one person said dog usually barks inside the house but this night appeared to be outside. This is all unconfirmed.

I see - I hadn't heard that dog was barking in the reports.

Where did you hear or read this? This is the first time I heard that.

I read somewhere that they confirmed there was no party at the house that night.

Have you seen the ex boyfriend? Unless someone helped him, I doubt he has the strength to kill all of them, including the athletic boyfriend.

DP here. I think on Websleuths they're saying that the surviving roommates doors were locked (but not that there was a party). However it was known as a "party house" so it was probably typical to have many people coming and going. The roommates all came in late after being out at parties or a bar.

As for calling 911, the girls called their friends over (or went to their nearby houses) and the report is that multiple people were talking on the 911 call (maybe someone was really upset so passed the phone to their friend).

I can't imagine how they would state that conclusively. The source is Faux News, so take that into consideration. Whoever killed the dog is deeply disturbed. Waiting in the dark, in someone's yard, to methodically kill & skin a pet? If not the student killer then another psychopath about to explode.

Multiple news outlets are now reporting that the cops say it’s unrelated. As I said upthread, they may know things we don’t.
