Yes, that's a long haul from Battlefield into the city. They likely retain everyone unless you want to drive over an hour each way to get to a private. |

No, Battlefield didnât have a ton of players that are currently committed to D 1 schools. Currently, only one Senior is committed to a D3 school. The junior class has a little bit more, their goalie is a D1 committ to UConn. Having said that, not all of their players want to play in college, as is the case for two seniors. The junior class had two girls still looking to commit and a few other solid players that donât want to play in college The sophomore class is a little more deeper, but no commits obviously. They will probably have three D1 commits, one being their sophomore goalie. Other than that, they just have a lot of athletic girls that started playing lacrosse late in life |
Battlefield did have a 25 Capital Blue player choose to go to PVI. Her sister is a Senior and one of the most talented on Battlefields team. |
Congratulations to Battlefield last night from a Riverside fan. I thought the Bobcats played well. You can tell the team has been playing together for a while. They looked organized from top to bottom. And they mean business. I can appreciate their style of play.
I agree with a PP. The draw was key. Battlefield seemed to settle on one primary player taking the draw for most of the night. It looked like Riverside was testing many combinations. Draws will come down to circle play and Battlefield had the advantage there last night. Someone mentioned the Riverside commits. They do have four. Their goalie commit did not play last night. They had a fill in who doesnât have a lot of experience in goal. Several of the other commits sat out for good chunks of the game as someone already mentioned. And several girls who will be counted on to start sat out last night. Not sure why. Battlefield will be a very good team this season. I think other teams on their schedule will have their hands full. Iâm not quite sure what to expect from Riverside since they havenât fielded a regular starting lineup in their scrimmages. They have a really young team. Some with no lacrosse background at all having to play significant minutes. Again, congratulations to Battlefield. And best of luck this season. |
What is it with the goalies. Battlefield starting goalie didnât play last night either. Saw her on the sidelines |
Thanks Battlefield #1 fan. Raise that scrimmage trophy! The real season starts soon and some Lâs coming up |
Saw the Langley vs Holton Arms scrimmage. Granted just a scrimmage, but Holton dominated all around the field, much much better coached, disciplined and can execute. I said it in an earlier thread, Langley is quickly on the downfall as their players looked lost, can't pass and catch the ball, they actually looked scared to drive to goal, minus one or two of them. The question is, where did all their coaches go? There was only the HC on the sideline, and a goalie coach who is sub par. Looks like the HC Burke ran everyone off, which seems to be consistant of her track record.
I understand it was a scrimmage and teams will hopefully get better, but c'mon Coach Burke, step it up and actually coach your players as they looked completely lost. Can't remember who, but someone said it last year that she completely destroyed that program, and it looks to be true. Any other scrimmages out there. |
Someone posted this list earlier. PVI won vs Yorktown. Anyone know the outcomes of the other games? Yorktown vs PVI Madison vs St Johns Robinson vs Collegiate Oakton vs Independence |
The oak ton vs independence scrimmage was only half a game but looked pretty evenly matched. Independence had some reallly ft players, so I would say watch out for them. Oakton looked prett good at times, but just average at other times.
Looking forward to the tart of the regular season |
What is a âft playerâ |
Just call me inspector gadget! |
Rather blaming the current HC what about the previous Coach dipping out knowing what the pipeline was going to be at Langley? Programs canât be undefeated forever. |
^^This is true - and two other returning Yorktown standouts have torn ACLs and are out for the season (one will be back toward the end of the season). |
To the previous poster about Langley, you have no clue what your talking about, pipeline, blah blah blah. The head coach Burke completely crushed the program last year and this carried over to this year. Ask anyone close to the program and they know how kids quit, didnât even bother trying out because of her demeanor when she first got their last year. So please donât bring up the prior head coach leaving because of no pipeline, again you have no clue what your talking about.
Believe me when I tell you that parents and players would welcome Burke resigning and going elsewhere. Case in point, the pp mentioned it was just her on the sideline by herself. Wonder why her assistants left and didnât come back. Seems like no one after they work with her likes to come back as they just move on. Just sayin |
