She is not "an Obama holdover." She is a career civil servant who served in top posts under both Republican and Democratic administrations.

Masha Yovanovitch was forced out because she was representing the interests of the United States. The corrupt Ukrainians and the corrupt Americans could not have that.

So from the articles linked above, it seems that Bob Livingston trashed the U.S. Ambassador while he knew he was being paid by a front company and had no idea who was actually paying him $50K per month.

Officially, his client was Innovative Technology and Business Consulting, with an address in Pikesville, MD, but no physical or online business presence, which is very strange for a technology and business consulting company. Livingston knew that was not the real source of the lobbying funds but he took the money and did what he was asked to do. Among other activities, Livingston contacted U.S. officials, including Ambassador Volker, to meet with Yulia Tymoshenko while she was candidate for President of Ukraine. Livingston apparently was also a client for other companies in Ukraine and the region.

It looks like these are depositions, not hearings, consistent with what’s been done so far. They want all the principals on the record so no one is aligning their stories with each other. Public hearings later. Depositions are never public.
