The first video had no sound on it.

It just had the explanation by Phillips that the kids were chanting "build the wall".

Didn't he realize there would be other videos of what occured that would refute the original charges?

It doesn't matter. It went viral and did the damage intended. Phillips also said that the boys were harrassing the black men.

Go read the defense of Phillips on here:
1. He approached the kid--not vice versa
2, The Black Israelites were harrassing the boys--not vice versa.
3. Phillips said they were chanting "build the wall"--they weren't.
4. Phillips presents himself as a noble veteran. He brings up that Marine experience frequently. Turns out it wasn't such a noble career.

And, yet, people on this forum are still blaming the boys. Why? Because the kid was wearing a hat.

And, he was at the March for Life and he is white and Catholic. The hat was the icing on the cake for these folks.....

Imagine... just for a minute....

this was a group of students who had attended the woman's march.
Everything else was the same, except it was a group of girls wearing pussy hats. The Black Hebrew Israelites say demeaning things to them.
Native American man comes up banging drum and chanting. Girl in pussy hat stares and smiles at him. Others around her start a cheer or chant of some kind.

She would be hailed as a model of how to handle yourself under a difficult circumstance by those who are condemning the young man in the MAGA hat.

This was one of many horrendous comments on Twitter. Thankfully the attorney who is working with these teens is taking care of them. One by one.

He has claimed to be a Vietnam Veteran.

My dad was a veteran. He served two tours in Vietnam. Officer in the AF. Career service.
When he talked about himself, he simply called himself a "veteran." He never referred to himself as a "Vietnam Veteran."

This guy used the "Vietnam Veteran" descriptor to mislead people. And his military record is proof of that.

the legal definition of Vietnam Veteran is anyone who served during the war, in any location. 38 USC 4211(2).

I don't care what the legal definition is. My point is that he used that "moniker" to intentionally deceive people into believing he actually served in Vietnam. Most veterans don't qualify their "veteran" status.
He lied about a lot. Including what he did when in the service. Not to mention the series of events on Friday.

Concur. My dad also served during Vietnam (1970-73) but did not go to Vietnam. He has NEVER called himself a “Vietnam vet.” Actually, he doesn’t go throwing out his veteran status at all unless it’s actually relevant to the conversation.

Was this guy in a marine uniform? I teach my kids to not be jerks to all adults. I don't ask their veteran status or get snobby about which war was going on when they were in the service. I expect my kid to be respectful to all adults.

YES X10000!

LOL! Yes! x a trillion! Allll adults!

Is this coming from the “I don’t respect our president bc respect is earned”’ folks? So you’d expect them to respect Trump? And anyone wearing a MAGA hat? Please.

I posted this. I would expect my children to behave respectfully towards the President if they met him. But they don;t need to support him or his policies.

And every adult wearing a MAGA hat that they encounter?

If you expect your children to behave respectfully towards the President and all elected officials, you are better off than many of your elected Democratic Congressmen and women who encourage people to harass members of the Trump administration. I have never heard of a Democrat taking issue with that kind of approach. I've only seen it embraced. Good on you. I'm not so sure I believe you though.

^^^ girls did address the black hate group.

They told them " we love you anyway".

You are right, people respect the girl's peaceful protest over the aggressive chant of the boys.

Where did the first one come from? How did this start?

If the kid didn't have a MAGA hat on, would anyone have cared?

If Nathan Philips was the white male wearing a MAGA hat, and the kids were Native Americans, the story would have been how a Bullying White Man Tries to Intimidate Children by Beating Drum in their Faces.

Bingo!

pp you quoted here
I also teach my children to respect all adults. I don't feel Phillips' veteran status is important, but it is the Sandmann criticizers that keep harping on the fact that Phillips is a "Vietnam Vet" as if it makes a difference.

And fwiw, I don't feel Sandmann was AT ALL disrespectful to the grown adult who approached him and started banging a drum and yelling in his face. He stood quietly and respectfully and listened.

I don't see much difference. The girl would still be smirking and acting inappropriately after marching for what she sees as a worthy cause. Her friends would be taking clothes off inappropriately and her other friends would be making joking motions about native Americans. There might be more notice of the men and how they treated the girls I agree, but that's because girls have been attacked by men throughout history more than the other way around.

It’s all gaslighting: we saw a spoiled-shit kid in over his head, acting like a smug jerk. Not a bit of that has changed, though desperately, people want us to believe this boy was praying as he was smirking.

Who are we to believe? The flack here repeatedly misapplying “1984,” or our own lying eyes?

It's pretty interesting that the kids hire a PR firm closely aligned with Mitch McConnell and then the trolls come out in full force.

Alas I'm a mom in a suburb near you in the DMV. People pay for mom-opinions? Cool.

I'm pretty sure he's too young for a job. But I hope he had a nice day in middle school.

I wonder what would have happened if the teenager in question or the school had issued an apology shortly after the video surfaced. Something along the lines of hey we're (they're) kids and we really aren't like this but we got caught up in the mayhem and acted as inappropriately as everyone else....y'know blah blah blah. They could've done that without a PR firm.
