MAGA teen bused in from a Catholic school harasses Indigenous People's marcher. Vile.

If an imbecile like Omar deletes her factually inaccurate tweet why won't she do the honorable thing and apologize?

Just kinda wonder. . . the first video that hit social media was, of course, the one focused on The Smirker. But all those h.s. boys with him were taking their own selfies and videos. What if . . . one of THEIR videos had been the first to hit the internet? What would it have looked like then? What meme? What text?

Where did the first one come from? How did this start?

If the kid didn't have a MAGA hat on, would anyone have cared?

If Nathan Philips was the white male wearing a MAGA hat, and the kids were Native Americans, the story would have been how a Bullying White Man Tries to Intimidate Children by Beating Drum in their Faces.

Probably for same reason there isn't a 136 page thread on how wrong it was for a popular conservative commentator to say the crying immigrant kids at the border were "actors." Or a 136 page thread on how wrong it was for NRA members to send death threats to David Hogg and other Parkland survivors.

Very sad all around.

He has claimed to be a Vietnam Veteran.

My dad was a veteran. He served two tours in Vietnam. Officer in the AF. Career service.
When he talked about himself, he simply called himself a "veteran." He never referred to himself as a "Vietnam Veteran."

This guy used the "Vietnam Veteran" descriptor to mislead people. And his military record is proof of that.

the legal definition of Vietnam Veteran is anyone who served during the war, in any location. 38 USC 4211(2).

I don't care what the legal definition is. My point is that he used that "moniker" to intentionally deceive people into believing he actually served in Vietnam. Most veterans don't qualify their "veteran" status.
He lied about a lot. Including what he did when in the service. Not to mention the series of events on Friday.

Concur. My dad also served during Vietnam (1970-73) but did not go to Vietnam. He has NEVER called himself a “Vietnam vet.” Actually, he doesn’t go throwing out his veteran status at all unless it’s actually relevant to the conversation.

Was this guy in a marine uniform? I teach my kids to not be jerks to all adults. I don't ask their veteran status or get snobby about which war was going on when they were in the service. I expect my kid to be respectful to all adults.

YES X10000!

LOL! Yes! x a trillion! Allll adults!

Is this coming from the “I don’t respect our president bc respect is earned”’ folks? So you’d expect them to respect Trump? And anyone wearing a MAGA hat? Please.

Probably isn’t a 136 page thread on that bc so few would be defending that POV. When all are in agreement, it gets dull.

I think this school is woefully out of touch with both our current world in the US and with technology.
That they thought the kids would be just boys being boys and did not take in to account that virtually everyone has cell phones with cameras that will document and spread like wildfire on the internet.

I bet only a very small % of these boys' parents actually check their cell phones to be sure they aren't texting things that could ruin their lives if publicized. And they completely missed that letting their kids think it is okay to behave like this in public is a huge risk in this day and age.

The internet is forever.

Yes.

I wonder if all those adults and professionals calling for doxing these kids, threatening them with violence, doxing the wrong kid and telling his university to rescind his acceptance, and posting outright lies realize that the internet is forever.

Of course they do.
That is the plan. That is their objective.

I could not imagine anyone reputable or respectable hiring a person who had permanent twitter posts advocating putting kids head first into a wood chipper or asking someone to beat a 16 year old in the face with a baseball bat until his smile looks like hamburger...

I posted this. I would expect my children to behave respectfully towards the President if they met him. But they don;t need to support him or his policies.

The first video had no sound on it.

It just had the explanation by Phillips that the kids were chanting "build the wall".

Didn't he realize there would be other videos of what occured that would refute the original charges?

Actually if you look at the likes, retweets and agreement, thousands upon thousands of people thought these kinds of statements were enlightened, on point, or hysterical.

It doesn't matter. It went viral and did the damage intended. Phillips also said that the boys were harrassing the black men.

Go read the defense of Phillips on here:
1. He approached the kid--not vice versa
2, The Black Israelites were harrassing the boys--not vice versa.
3. Phillips said they were chanting "build the wall"--they weren't.
4. Phillips presents himself as a noble veteran. He brings up that Marine experience frequently. Turns out it wasn't such a noble career.

And, yet, people on this forum are still blaming the boys. Why? Because the kid was wearing a hat.

Spot on. If he hadn’t been wearing that hat, this never would have gone viral. As someone who’s normally considered a liberal, I’m horrified by the overreaction to the whole thing.
