Not defensible. Just not defensible behavior. They were behaving badly.

When my kids behave badly, I don't look for other people around to blame it on. Was the woman wearing a short skirt? Was her hair long and uncovered????

These kids should not have been left unsupervised for even a minute, because they have not been taught how to behave appropriately in public.

I am reporting your post because what you keep repeating is a fabrication.

The boy in that video is not from Covington Catholic.

Please stop spreading more lies.

The situation is already inflammatory. Why add more lies to the fire?

confirmed? because if not so are you (lies, fire)

He's not. He is from a neighboring school. That has been confirmed, but those who confirmed it are not giving his name. And, rightly so.
You can even hear, in the longer video, someone say, "he's not from our school."
Of course, that statement is cropped from the video that has circulated.

And, yet. It was instantaneously flagged the minute someone referred to the video.

I'm not really sure that it matters though. If it wasn't a CC kid, that is a fact that should be known. But, they were all mingled together. CC kids in the mix laughing. They are part of the same environment. So, we see CC technically "exonerated" but not without taint of wrongdoing.

Different pp- I'm leftist leaning too, but "the taint of wrongdoing?" C'mon really? Have you ever stood next to someone who does the wrong thing? Because in MS and HS seeing, standing near, overhearing someone do/say the wrong thing happens about every other day because the prefrontal cortex is underdeveloped and some kids aren't taught the right things at home.

NP. So why would anyone think their behavior is worthy of doxxing, death, or having their college rescind their acceptance? Overreact much?

I certainly don't. But I did expect the school to apologize for not watching the kids and some commitment to good race relations. Now they are doing nothing.

My dad was a veteran. He served two tours in Vietnam. Officer in the AF. Career service.

This guy used the "Vietnam Veteran" descriptor to mislead people. And his military record is proof of that.

the legal definition of Vietnam Veteran is anyone who served during the war, in any location. 38 USC 4211(2).

I don't care what the legal definition is. My point is that he used that "moniker" to intentionally deceive people into believing he actually served in Vietnam. Most veterans don't qualify their "veteran" status.
He lied about a lot. Including what he did when in the service. Not to mention the series of events on Friday.

Concur. My dad also served during Vietnam (1970-73) but did not go to Vietnam. He has NEVER called himself a “Vietnam vet.” Actually, he doesn’t go throwing out his veteran status at all unless it’s actually relevant to the conversation.

Irrelevant.

The kids were still jerks.
The chaperones were still negligent.
And the BHIs were still crazy.

I like how you break this down in to an easy to understand sound bite for people who want to rug sweep everything and make you think that 100+ rowdy teenagers were intimidated by an elderly native american man.

It’s pointless though. Those t^rds don’t care about anything close to the truth.

Yes, what are the consequences for the chaperones? They are to blame here.

Do you have actual footage of him saying he served a tour of duty in Vietnam?

I am not going to go back through this thread and search for all the proof. You can if you want.
He referred to himself as a Vietnam Veteran during the CNN interviews. He lied about the work he did in the military. And, he talked about how he was spit on after the war.

Here is one piece:

n 2012, over $6,000 was raised for a documentary about his life in which he claimed to be a Vietnam veteran.

In a video about the documentary, director Maria Stanisheva explained that her documentary was about Phillips’ belief that he could pray cancer away from his wife.

Stanisheva explained in the footage that Phillips had been sent to a Catholic boarding school at the age of five. From the sound of it, he resents the experience.

“Nathan’s past is a difficult one. He was forced out of his family at the age of five to be integrated into a Catholic school — like so many other Native Americans — not being allowed to see his family for ten years,” Stanisheva stated.

Stanisheva goes on to say that “he was then a Marine in Vietnam — and right after that he became an alcoholic for 20 years.”

Indian Country Today writer Vincent Schilling, who says he is the "journalist that broke the initial story on Nathan Phillips and the MAGA youth," carried this shocking quote in his initial report on January 19th (which he has since stealth edited):
In a previous interview with Phillips, he told Indian Country Today that returning from Vietnam was not easy as a veteran. “People called me a baby killer and a hippie girl spit on me.”
He recently stealth-edited the article to now read:
In a previous interview with Phillips, he told Indian Country Today that the Vietnam era was not easy as a marine. “People called me a baby killer and a hippie girl spit on me.”

It’s all gaslighting: we saw a spoiled-shit kid in over his head, acting like a smug jerk. Not a bit of that has changed, though desperately, people want us to believe this boy was praying as he was smirking.

Who are we to believe? The flack here repeatedly misapplying “1984,” or our own lying eyes?

It's pretty interesting that the kids hire a PR firm closely aligned with Mitch McConnell and then the trolls come out in full force.

Yup. I’m positive this is what’s going on. Like their client, they have no issue with lying.

And I am not raising them to think behaving like those kids is appropriate. But I wouldn't let my kids wear black face to a black out game, so there's that too.

I think this school is woefully out of touch with both our current world in the US and with technology.
That they thought the kids would be just boys being boys and did not take in to account that virtually everyone has cell phones with cameras that will document and spread like wildfire on the internet.

I bet only a very small % of these boys' parents actually check their cell phones to be sure they aren't texting things that could ruin their lives if publicized. And they completely missed that letting their kids think it is okay to behave like this in public is a huge risk in this day and age.

The internet is forever.

Yes.

I wonder if all those adults and professionals calling for doxing these kids, threatening them with violence, doxing the wrong kid and telling his university to rescind his acceptance, and posting outright lies realize that the internet is forever.

Of course they do.
That is the plan. That is their objective.

LOL. Back to the "trolls" trope again.
You just can't believe that there are some people here who didn't buy the story when it broke. And, you fell for it and by God, you aren't going to admit you were wrong.

Trolls gonna troll.

I agree that kids should be respectful to adults. Please tell me the protocol when said adult picks you out to beat a drum in your face.

Said adult then goes on television and talks about the hate in your face.

Turns out later that said adult--who is cited as being a Vietnam vet (there are some indications that he had indicated this in earlier interviews, but we can blame that on the media) is a regular on the professional protest tour. There are reports that he went to the Catholic basilica in DC later that day to beat his drum but was prevented from entering.

And, now it turns out that this veteran who deserves our respect has said he was a "recon ranger" when he was actually a refrigerator repairman in the Marines. And, that he was AWOL at least 3 times. There is some speculation that he was not given an honorable discharge. He was discharged as an E-1--which means he was never promoted--not the normal career path for a Marine. That wouldn't matter so much except that he frequently touts his military service.

That was a long time ago, but this whole event is sounding more and more like a set-up. These kids were harassed on two sides by adults.

This is nearly as crazy as people who spout off about the Parkland kids being "crisis actors." Do you truly think that there was a "set up" by two sets of conspiring adults on the National Mall in an effort to make conservatives look bad?

If you really believe this, our country is truly in deep sh#t and we've lost the propaganda war.

Yes, the victimizing of these kids is inexplicable otherwise.
