Yes if you got out of your mom’s basement, you would see the evidence in airports. I’m currently traveling and there have been hiccups with ATC.

PP's point is likely that this shutdown will disproportionately impact Democrats. For instance, Democrats are much more likely to fly for leisure than Republicans, so they'll notice these hiccups first. Same with SNAP, Democrats will notice the pause in SNAP first, and uh, react (in)appropriately.

So why Democrats are using a shutdown for leverage, when their own people are disproportionately impacted raises a lot of questions.

Your assumptions about who uses SNAP are wrong.

It boggles the mind that Democrats seem to think SNAP is a disproportionately Republican program. It brings a certain Voltaire quote to mind.

Let's see how the first shakes out, bet its going to be eye-opening for some people.

Where have you been? This is one of the biggest stories of Trump's reelection that low-income voters, and in particular, people who rely on federal assistance programs were more likely to vote for Tump.

The PP is clearly operating under the assumption that all Blacks are lazy and poor and all Whites are hardworking patriots. This simple-minded and low-IQ mental shortcut causes them to ignore the fact that the plurality of SNAP recipients are White, and, indeed, that there are 37% more White recipients of SNAP than Black recipients of SNAP.

Skin color is not a predetermining factor in who receives SNAP benefits you racist fool.

Of course it isn't, which is why all the dumb MAGA trolls smugly posting that only Democrats are going to be hurt by SNAP cuts are profoundly stupid and misguided.

What they are saying is that SNAP beneficiaries disproportionately make up a key component of the Democratic base. MAGA voters won't feel it nearly as much because most are not on SNAP.

Snap recipients aren't "Republicans" or "Democrats". They are poor people. Besides, who in 2025 is still identifying as a "Republican" or "Democrat". I would be very upset with someone if they insulted me with those awful labels.

They are poor people who are getting too much to eat. A few missed meals won't kill them. SNAP beneficiaries exploded under Biden when he opened the border. It's time to shut it down until we figure out what is going on.

Undocumented immigrants don't receive SNAP benefits you simple-minded fool.

They are eating. They're getting food. Please stop pretending like they're starving. And if they're that hungry, they can work somewhere to earn some rations.

One more time: 70% of SNAP recipients have full time employment. The other percentage are retirees, disabled, and part time workers.

I guess you aren't familiar with the demographics of the US. Your dark green areas are reservations, the black belt, border counties and yes the Appalachians. Only one of those areas is MAGA country.

I’m looking at most of Alaska, South Texas and Idaho with over 25% of the population receiving SnAP benefits. Those aren’t reservations or your cleverly worded Black Belt.

Is this the liberal education people keep bragging about?
Things you’ve apparently missed out on: Alaskan Natives, who lives along the Mexican border, and what the black belt is.

And trying something new: https://grokipedia.com/page/Black_Belt_in_the_American_South" target="_new" rel="nofollow"> https://grokipedia.com/page/Black_Belt_in_the_American_South

Dem Party politicians are no more out of touch with the American people than are GOP politicians. What the silly dupes who still support these two awful parties fail to understand is the fact that these politicians only give a damn about pleasing their wealthy mega-donors. They could care less about you, me or anyone else who is not funding their campaigns with routine 8 and 9 figure checks.

So you’re saying except for the huge area that encompasses 4 red states and a dozen republican congressional districts, SNAP doesn’t matter to republicans?

It’s not that it doesn’t matter at all, it’s that the position is negatively leveraged for the Democrats. It’s an odd position to make a stand on, especially given other factors as well.

The whole Shutdown business is such a blunder by team blue that I can’t help but feel they are purposely acting as a foil for Trump.

Polling suggests otherwise, and it isn't close.

- they do in they manage to breed while on U.S. soil; then they all get more free food than they’d ever dreamt of back home, plus free health care at the ER, free school K-12, free breakfast and lunch at free school, all sorts of state benefits, etc.

So you mean citizens of the United States get these benefits. Yes.
