Van Lifer couple camping in Utah national park - two weeks later fiancee arrives in FL alone

It's way too much coincidence that they were all in the same area when the couple was murdered. Brian supposedly has a concealed carry gun of some sort. He's a weirdo, and the women said they had been spooked by a weirdo in the vicinity.

What are the chances?

Agree! The fight between Gabby and Brian at the Moonflower Coop and police cam was Aug 12th I think, they were supposed to stay separated that night, and Kylen and Crystal were last seen Aug 13th at a bar.

If it were the other guy, why didn't they press charges?

We know Brian went around yelling at people in restaurants. Come on, now. It seems almost insane for the police to just announce that they ruled it out.

Can we just discuss this particular case in this thread, and whoever is interested in any other disappearances can start their own threads maybe?

We think Brian is probably the killer of the lesbian couple as well. It's germane.

Weird that the couple was killed too right around. If he was belligerent or they saw something, maybe.

The FBI tricked the parents into lying to them so it was, " oK Mom, do you didn't spend $$$$ on xxx for Brian to use while he was on the run, but this is your cc , right ?"

"Well, then it looks like we can charge your son with unauthorized use of your CC then - UNLESS you want to admit now that you lied to the FBI about these cc charges ? "

Which is like 10 times the money spent on pretty much ALL of the POC that have gone missing this year combined.

It's too bad no one will care if I get murdered.

There are major faults in your logic that you don’t have the courage to be honest about or perhaps you are such a far gone racist that your perspective is distorted:

Here’s the hard truth : the “ media” doesn’t give a damn about Gabby either , nor did they give a shit about Natalie Holloway or Joan Bennet - they just want to make money off of ratings . Period . It’s simple demographics: majority of spenders on products of companies advertised on these networks are white because majority of America is white .

The fact that the story sells - doesn’t mean yours won’t - just find a forum that will back it with $$$$ . Your mistake is you thinking that the media grieve for anyone - maybe the news anchor does - but the execs making those decisions are same guys who supported the Harvey Weinstein of the world - who btw mostly targeted white women

You're calling ME a racist? Not the people who ONLY care that a white girl is missing? The reason the media gets such high ratings is because white people only care about good looking white people.

Your logic is child like.

Consider this : in one breath you allege that ALL white people don’t care about you AND in the same breath ALL white people are obsessed with oppressing you and keeping you down. Which is it because they are diametrically opposed ?

Here’s the truth : AA women are 3x more often the victim of violence by their partner - focus your attention there . THAT is what you should be trying to change and NO don’t even try to say that the reason AA men are beating the WH”t out of their gf and wives is because “ the white media made them do it “ or “ it’s cause of slavery . Deal with IT . Face IT . Maybe demand gun violence laws - gun bans and mandatory jail terms to end violence

But NO instead, let’s play a zero sum game : No one can care about ANYONE- all lives are Sh”t

No way that is gonna happen .

Brian Laundrie and his dirt bag parents are in the news and are being hunted because they have seriously violated societal norms:
1) not manning up and coming forward in Shane when you kill a woman who loved you
2) parents lying to protect their son as opposed to doing the right thing knowing how we ALL feel as parents of our child was missing/ murdered
3) making public fools of the Utah police - BIG Mistake Brian - big mistake

Piss off every grandma , grandpa , mom and COP in America and do it while being an unemployed LOSER and , yes, our society demands a correction - a prosecution and justice because THAT is how we uphold our values - ALL of our values - just like last Summer we all stood up because our values were violated

Valuing Gabby doesn’t mean YOU aren’t valued

While I think you underestimate the cumulative effects of racism and slavery, you're dead on that this story is about violated social norms. And, the killed lesbian couple. I didn't perk up until I understood there were THREE dead ladies, in a national park. I mean, there are SO many national parks horror and true crime stories that I don't even know where to start. American Horror Stories just dedicated an episode to national parks (Feral) and the National Parks killers podcast is on its 11th season. Three dead ladies, in a park? That's fire.

So this is interesting, right? Where is all the news about the lesbians and who killed them? Nothing. You wouldn't know about them if it weren't for Gabby. They're not POC, but they are a minority and you can't relate to them, so you wouldn't really be focused or interested in that story, you'd just say "Oh, that's sad, I hope they find their killer" but there's not a thread about them, nobody is seeking out clues about them, I haven't seen any TikToks about the last time they were spotted, etc...

They were actually a story that was going on before Gabby's. And then they merged.

I don't think you guys can back up your claims that only pretty blonde girls are featured in true crime. I'm a genuine true crime fan, I average 1-2 hours of true crime stories per day and much higher on weekend. While cleaning my house, I'm listening to murder. While walking my dog, those airpods are feeding me murder. I know my murder.

And I can tell you-- and have receipts-- that pretty white women are actually a minority in this genre. Prove it otherwise. The only ones you can probably name are JeanBenet, Natalie Halloway, and now Gabby. That's what... one a decade? No, contrary to what's fashionable to claim, true crime and horror fans actually prefer the more obscure stuff with imperfect victims. Go look on Netflix and see who the victims are these days. People like complex story lines, interesting villains, and relatable victims. JeanBenet, may she rest in peace, is not relatable for most people.

But we're not talking about "true crime" aficianados such as yourself, we're talking about what takes over national media. That's two different things.

I’m a huge true crime junkie, too, and I second the above. I’d maybe add Amanda Knox to your list, but otherwise I couldn’t name any more white women. I could, however, name +10 Asian and black women who have gone missing. I honestly think it’s just soooo trendy to flag the “white blonde woman” card. Yet, none of these people actually follow the genre or general media coverage.

People are not talking about true crime junkies surfing Netflix. Folks are saying NBC/CBS/ABC are not featuring certain women (or MEN). And it’s true. Hundreds of native women have gone missing in that same area and I can’t name one of them.

I don’t want them to stop featuring people like Gabby Petito. I want them to give a bit of airtime for people like Jelani Day. Or Kylen and Crystal (I learned their names here).

Right, understandable; I think many, if not all of us, can empathize with your points. Even the posters who knew the names of these women (and non-white women) prior to this particular case, like me. But honestly, I’m a little tired of the complaints about media coverage in this specific thread. Either start a new thread, write to your local NBC/CBS/ABC station, contact your representative, or just let us have some relatively innocuous speculation without these comments every other post.

I completely understand where you’re coming from, but as someone who actually does consume media for non-white women true crime cases, and as a POC myself, it’s not very helpful to keep bringing up these issues in this specific setting / forum. Unless you have more concrete ideas for how to approach this issue outside of what I suggested above?

Many others have already laid out how this case is particularly engaging- we know the perpetrator, we know he’s on the run, and we have a *lot* of content to consume thanks to the victim herself. These are, unequivocally, all components that contribute to natural, human interest, which is clearly what national media has picked up on as well.

When people go missing and there are no clues, no trails, no hints and no obvious suspects, it’s a lot less interesting.

The dead California family, Gerrish/Ching, has no obvious clues or suspects and has garnered a lot of interest. And the woman is not white, and the man is not American.

I disagree. There was a lot of interest in this case, I was one of the interested parties. Although it’s not an obvious murder suspect it is interesting to try to figure out what actually happened to them.

Also disagree. The thread on that California family is over 200 pages long! That certainly indicates interest

You didn't mention the baby. Everybody loves a story with a baby in it.

Is it within possibility that Laundries parents took him somewhere other than the Carlton reserve search area during their "camping trip" Sept 11-13, and the parents themselves left the mustang at Carlton as a decoy?

You mean like this bisexual Indian doctor with a substance abuse problem that has been endlessly written about in tabloids? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_Sneha_Anne_Philip

I only know about her because you've posted about her on DCUM multiple times. I don't recall seeing her in the news. And tabloids are not the same as mainstream news. You know that, right???
