Van Lifer couple camping in Utah national park - two weeks later fiancee arrives in FL alone

Her handwriting is the icing on the cake of the insanity of the letter - it’s clear she’s stunted at like a middle school level of maturity. My guess is the husband is abusive with coercive control in the family and she worshiped the son as her savior. That’s my guess because I lived it, saw the sick dynamic play out with my mother and my brother. He became an abuser too, to girlfriends and later to multiple wives.

As a former domestic violence advocate it pains me to say it, but the women who stay have an active hand in perpetuating abuse from one generation to the next. I know that leaving is the most lethal time, but I strongly feel that every abused woman owes it to her children to try.

Yeah the Laundry parents strike me as odd (even so before Brian killed his gf). Weren't they only in their 50's?? They look like they are in their 70's-80's.

I feel so damn sad for Gabby as I read his deranged mom's letter.

Interesting, because the #MeToo movement recently compared a musician to Brian Laundrie, can't remember who.

Oh, this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/meToo/comments/13i2ry1/sickick_raped_me/

My cousin is an abuser like this. The trauma can be unimaginable.

Like who? Brian? The mom?

Tell me about it, I'm married to one. And yep. Mom is his #1 enabler. They have a twisted relationship. It's gross.

Like Brian. And yes, he's also got some weird creepy codependency with my aunt/his mom. I'm so sorry girl, if you're married to one. Hope you are safe <3

If you can safely get out, try. These people are dangerous. I've been in therapy to help me cut off my Brian-like cousin and his parents and to set boundaries with my parents, who have major Stockholm Syndrome.

It seems the saga to this tragedy is always turning up new things.

While initially I DID think it was suspicious that the Laundrie family had hired an attorney so early on, I did also acknowledge that that was their civil right even though I didn’t agree w/it.

I personally found it reprehensible that Brian’s parents would not speak on Gaby's disappearance, but tried to give them the benefit of the doubt that they did not know that she had been murdered by their son.

However after reading the letter written by Brian’s Mother, I have zero doubt that she KNEW.

Yep. It's hard to experience people disappointing you after you gave them the benefit of the doubt.

Hope it really hurt when Brian killed himself.
