Long hair, but not too long. A WASP needs a classic ponytail for tennis and that perfect wind blown look for photos near on the beach next to the summer house or out on the boat. Subtle highlights, but a WASP is not going to go super bottle blonde. Most of the Wasps I know have very shiny brown hair.

Very little makeup. Clean face. A little color from outdoor activity, as a Wasp should be spending weekends and holidays boating, skiing, or relaxing at one of their family’s or family friend’s weekend homes.

Wasp icons: Gwyneth Paltrow, Jackie Kennedy, a host of socialites who have also written for Vogue at one time or another.

Sorry, but this is a bit over the top.

I know three of them. None are WASPs. Two are Jewish Jersey girls and one is from Texas and her mom sells MLM stuff.

My SIL is an east coast WASP. She went to a preppy handbook school; her kids also go there and are 2nd generation attendees (which apparently matters). She rides horses as her main hobby.

Her vibe is very classic and simple. A lot of her clothes are actually from Talbots but she mixes in other understated brands. Its mostly solid colors and neutrals so I dont even know where things come from. I think some of them are random horsey brands. She defin. owns a Barbour waxed jacket and a Patagonia. Ive never seen her in high heels, sometimes a kitten heel or short block heel. Sometimes she wears short black booties with a small heel. Ive also seen her in AGL flats.

She has shoulder-length, straight hair, worn down or in a pony tail. A little bit of make-up if any. Overall she always looks tidy, never tired or sloppy. In addition to a wedding band, she wears round-cut diamond stud earrings that id say are about 1.5 ct tw. One of the slightly unexpected things about her is she has two holes on ones side (vestige of an 80s teen years I was told) and wears an extra, slightly smaller diamond stud in that ear.

Sloane, like Hadley and Harper and Emerson, are faux WASP names. Real WASPs are named Caroline or Katherine.

Aerin Lauder is Jewish.

There are many people who are Jewish or any other religion other than protestan that possess the wasp aesthetic.

They possess the wasp aesthetic yes, but will never be of it.

Look at you proclaiming “they will never be of it!” Who is the poster who said y’all are just discussing wasp aesthetic, not aspiring to it? BS-this PP and every other striver breathlessly discussing what is wasp culture and who qualifies as wasp is proof otherwise.

Nope. this is the fashion forum where people discuss fashion (and often just come here to make fun of it).

Lol wasn’t she the one who was on Dr Phil discussing her failed marriages and then got arrested for stalking and trespassing on an ex’s property? Too flashy/trashy/attention hungry to be a real wasp. Real wasps don’t discuss their misery on TV.

Lots of people confusing preppy with wasp. Preppy as a fashion style is mass-produced caricature at this point. Most wasps are into understated neutrals.

I know some old money WASPs.

Think: summer on the Cape after vacationing abroad. Skiing domestically and abroad.

They wear understated but expensive clothes, but you’d never be able to identify a brand or label. They wear the same jewelry all the time. Minimal makeup.

Winter outfit if they’re going to lunch or shopping: black trousers that appear short (wasps don’t sloppily drag hems) with high quality yet comfy leather loafers/driving Mocs with a simple cashmere sweater (gray, tan) and a gorgeously fitted wool coat that is probably many years old. An old yet pristine scarf along with a classic tote finishes off the look.

When they vacation, they wear dresses. Simple sundresses (white, navy, subtle pattern) and comfy sandals.
